SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - The Seton Hall baseball offense erupted for 16 runs and 19 hits as the Pirates routed Saint Peter's, 16-2, on Tuesday for their fifth straight victory.

Eighteen position players saw action in the game with Zack Weigel (Oak Park, Ill.) and Sal Annunziata (Bronx, N.Y.) leading the offensive attack with three hits apiece. Jackson Martin (Collegeville, Pa.) was the lone Pirate to reach base four times, going 2-for-3 with two hit-by-pitches, three runs scored an RBI and a stolen base.

On the mound, Anthony Pacillo (Lyndhurst, N.J.) turned in his best start of the season. The sophomore issued just four hits and two earned runs over seven strong innings to earn his first win of the season.

Seton Hall (6-8) got its offense going from the start as the first five Pirate batters registered hits in the bottom of the first. Weigel, Alex Falconi (Freeport, N.Y.) and Kyle Grimm (Bergenfield, N.J.) hit back-to-back-to-back singles, the latter of which plated the Pirates' first run. Reigning BIG EAST Player of the Week D.J. Ruhlman (Belle Mead, N.J.) followed with a run-scoring double down the left field line. Annunziata then drove in both Grimm and Ruhlman with a single to give The Hall a 4-0 lead.

The Pirates extended their lead to 5-0 on Weigel's RBI single in the second before blowing the game open in the bottom of the fourth. Seton Hall sent 14 batters to the plate in the fateful inning, the first eight of which recorded hits. Martin went 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI in the fourth inning alone. When the smoke settled, the Pirates scored 10 runs on nine hits to take a commanding 15-0 advantage.

Weigel and Ruhlman finished with a team-high three RBI's apiece. Weigel finished the day 3-for-4 with three RBIs, two runs scored and his seventh stolen base of the season. Ruhlman went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored.

After Pacillo left the game following the seventh inning, freshman Matt Leon (Bethlehem, Pa.) and junior Sam Burum (Robbinsville, N.J.) pitched the eighth and ninth innings respectively without issuing a run.

Seton Hall is currently scheduled to return to action this Friday as it hosts Connecticut as part of the Strikeout Cancer Classic. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. However, with inclement weather on its way, changes may be made to the weekend schedule.
