Newark, N.J. - Al-Amir Dawes (Newark, N.J.) scored a career-high 25 points and Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) poured in 21 points as the Seton Hall men's basketball team got back in the win column with an 88-75 victory over Northeastern on Wednesday night.

Dawes added four 3-point makes as well as five rebounds and five assists, while Richmond picked up six helpers and six boards on the night. As a team, the Pirates shot 59.3 percent from the floor as they eclipsed 80 points for the third time this season.

How It Happened

The Pirates went down 4-0 early but they used a 10-0 run, capped off by back-to-back layups by sophomore Isaiah Coleman (Fredericksburg, Va.), that put The Hall in front, 10-4. Leading by just four, 17-13, with 9:20 to go before halftime, Richmond picked apart the Northeastern zone and found sophomore Jaquan Sanders (Queens, N.Y.) on the wing for a three-pointer that kicked off a 14-4 run.

Dawes' first trey of the evening gave the Pirates a 34-20 lead at the 2:57 mark in the first half but the Huskies answered with a 9-2 spurt to get within seven, 36-29, at halftime.

Dawes stayed hot at the start of the second half as he made a driving layup that made it 40-31 and he later kept The Hall's momentum with two made three-point baskets on consecutive possessions that gave the Pirates their largest lead of the game, 56-41. Northeastern got within eight with 3:16 to play but Seton Hall cashed in at the charity stripe making five consecutive free throws that pushed its lead back to double-digits for good.

Bediako continues to play consistently well. I think better than many expected and I hope it continues. The center position has been well manned by him. His free throw shooting has been great too! If we can get EHE healthy and he can contribute that will be a major plus. Also great seeing Tubek get his feet wet.

Good on offense.

Defense was suspect though.

Also it appears (with a small sample size of 7 games and 2 of which vs high major) our guards play well against the 5 not great teams and bad against good teams.

Dre davis seems healthy, our center bediago more then holding his own. Coleman has been an impact off bench. Wusu needs to be more consistent and play smart. Sanders and other subs need to play better. Need to get our other center some minutes before thrown into the skilled giants of big east season.

Glad Tubek is back. He looks legit with size and movement but be also looks like a freshman. Need him to become a rotation player with EHE for when Bediako gets in foul trouble.

Glad we are winning games against team we are supposed to (not Nova) but we haven’t won a game against a top 100 team yet so who knows.

Bediako has been our most consistent player. Why doesn't Sanders get more of Wusu's minutes as he's a real bricklayer.

Glad to see Dawes playing better.

Because he struggles on defense. As of now, Sanders is an off the bench 3 point shooter. And we need him to be successful in that role.
