Gambling integrity company flags suspicious college basketball odds shift before UAB destroys Temple

That Tulsa game didn't raise any flags to me, but the huge line movement last night is alarming. The only mitigating thing I could raise is that UAB opening at only -1.5, even on the road, seemed kind of ridiculous. I wish I had known about that in time to jump on it! But to move nine points in hours is something you just don't see. Not good for my Owls.

I'm not a gambler but if Temple were tanking wouldn't the line have moved the other way?

A take away from the below linked story.

"At Westgate, which has sportsbooks in nine states, the line moved from 2½ points to 8 at one point. Jay Kornegay, the race and sports manager at Westgate Las Vegas, said once the line reached 7, the money was even on both sides, typically an indication a game is on the level. Sportsbook directors often become suspicious when there is an inordinate amount bet on one side."

No. The way I see it from reading this is, the line started at UAB -1.5.....then the money started coming in heavy on UAB...so the books started increasing the line to incent more money on Temple....but it kept coming on UAB...so they kept increasing the line until it got high enough that money started to flow on Temple...then it "settled" down at around 7.5....once the money did, indeed, balance out on both teams.

That company flagged it because betting lines rarely if ever fluctuate that drastically in such a short space of time. Temple was already being monitored by them for suspicious numbers.

Last week a former SEC QB came out and said the mob offered him 300k to tank games and accused many Alabama players in these bribe schemes…
