PC's Dunn coming back...

I think some fund raising mojo got stolen. Their men's banquet is Saturday and it was told he would announce then.

I would be surprised if Dunn returned to PC, as first-rounders are generally encouraged to strike while the iron is hot.

The biggest surprise of the NBA draft decisions is Jakob Poeltl's decision to stay at Utah for another year. Poeltl was regarded as a probable lottery pick.

Kris Dunn will be returning to Providence for his junior season, according to a report from Yahoo Sports.

It’s a risky move for Dunn, who has twice had seasons ruined as a result of injuries to his right shoulder. He’s currently projected as the No. 13 pick in the 2015 draft, according to Draft Express, and it’s hard to imagine that he would really improve his draft position much more if he was to return to school. Dunn is a terrific playmaker and an excellent defender, but he turns the ball over far too much and has struggled to consistently be a threat as a perimeter shooter.

As a redshirt sophomore with the Friars last season, Dunn averaged 15.6 points, 7.5 assists, 5.5 boards and 2.7 steals while leading Providence to the NCAA tournament. That was enough to earn Dunn a spot as an NBCSports.com second-team all-american, and he’ll likely enter the 2015-16 season as a first-team all-american and a potential National Player of the Year.

Obviously, this is massive news for the Friars. And while they lose leading scorer and rebounder LeDontae Henton, Ed Cooley does get back a young, talented core while adding a solid four-man recruiting class. The Friars will be a factor in the Big East race and will be a borderline top 25 team entering the season.

Dunn just made it official and if Cooley can somehow talk Nigel Williams-Goss to be his replacement for next year it will be an amazing weekend in Friartown.

Have you ever spoken to Cooley directly?

I got the chance covering our home game against Providence this season. The guy is full of energy with no coaches speak to his comments.

A Providence columnist sort of challenged his substitution strategy of playing his starters major minutes in most games and his response was a simple one "if they don't like it they can try out for the tennis team."

There's no doubt who is in charge of his program. Love that trait in a leader.

I have spoken to him a few times, he is the most approachable head coach I have ever seen. He gave me a damn hug once for saying how much we all appreciated him. You can literally feel his sincerity. I have a massive man crush on the guy obviously and I'm certainly not alone among Friar fans. He's larger than life in the city of Providence and the state. The perfect hire at the perfect time.
