The Hall improves to 8-7 in the BIG EAST with a victory over the first-place Red Storm.

SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall women's volleyball team collected 14.0 team blocks and held St. John's to an attack percentage of just .009 in a stunning 3-0 (25-17, 25-17, 25-20) sweep of the Red Storm on Wednesday.

St. John's, which came into the match tied for first place in the BIG EAST Conference with Creighton and Marquette, couldn't find its offensive footing, making 30 attack errors thanks in large part to the Pirates' staunch front line.

Senior Bianca Bucciarelli (Carate Brianza, Italy) had a match-high 11 kills to go with five digs and three blocks.

Junior Hanna Tulli (Collegeville, Pa.) and sophomore Asli Subasili (Tekirdag, Turkey) led the Pirates' defensive wall. Tulli had a match-high seven blocks, while Subasili added six to go with four aces.

SET 1:
St. John's scored the first point of the first set, but it was its last lead of the set. The Pirates answered with six of the next seven points and never trailed again. St. John's rallied to tie the set at 13, but The Hall scored the next four points to jump ahead 17-13. A block by Tulli and Maddie Klungel (Napa, Calif.) gave The Hall a commanding 22-14 advantage. Although the Red storm scored three straight to cut their deficit to five points, the Pirates ended the set with three of their own.

SET 2:
The second set was the closest of the match, but the Pirates' defense ultimately won out. The Hall held the Red Storm to just -.214 attacking in the second and force them into 11 attack errors. After 10 ties and six lead changes, the Pirates took control late. Clinging to an 18-16 lead, Seton Hall went on a 6-0 run, and a block by Subasili and Klungel put it in set point, 24-16. Two points later, a kill by Bucciarelli gave the Pirates their second-straight 25-17 victory.

SET 3:
Although the final score was closer, Seton Hall never trailed in the third set. Leading 21-20, The Hall closed out the Red Storm with four straight points. A kill by Bucciarelli put the Pirates in match point, and an ace by Subasili provided the winning point.
