SCOUTING DE PAUL
DePaul has new look in 2023-24 following the departure of its top three scorers. Veterans Anaya Peoples and Jorie Allen have led the Blue Demons, who also added transfers from Notre Dame, UCLA and Michigan, along with a hefty freshman class. The Blue Demons were picked to finish seventh in the 11-team BIG EAST this year according to the preseason coaches' poll. Peoples was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.

Peoples has emerged as one of the premier players in the BIG EAST Conference this season and is a leading contender for the Most Improved Player award. She currently ranks sixth in the conference averaging 17.7 points per game.

DePaul enters Saturday's contest with a 12-15 record overall and a 4-10 mark in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons have dropped six of their last eight games, including the last two. She's the first to win back-to-back BIG EAST Freshman of the Week awards since Debbie Hartnett in 1986.

NEW YORK – Seton Hall's Savannah Catalon (Burleson, Texas) was named BIG EAST Women's Basketball Freshman of the Week on Monday for a second consecutive week.

Catalon is the first Seton Hall player to be named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week in back-to-back weeks since Pirates' Hall of Famer Debbie Hartnett in 1986.

Catalon continues to get better and better as her remarkable freshman season continues. Last week in a pair of BIG EAST games, she led Seton Hall with 16.5 points per contest. At St. John's on Tuesday, Catalon had a team-high 12 points on the strength of 2-for-3 shooting from three-point range. On Saturday against DePaul, she made her first collegiate start and matched her career high with 21 points. She was a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line and pulled down a career-high seven rebounds. Her 11-for-11 is only the third perfect shooting performance from the free-throw line in Seton Hall history with at least 10 attempts. It's the best performance in a BIG EAST regular season game by a freshman since Rebecca Lobo went 13-for-13 in 1992.

Connecticut's Aaliyah Edwards was named BIG EAST Player of the Week.

Seton Hall will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 20 when it makes the trip to Milwaukee for a BIG EAST contest at Marquette. Tip time is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
