SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – All 12 players scored at least four points as the Seton Hall women's basketball team downed St. Thomas Aquinas, 79-38, in exhibition action in Walsh Gymnasium on Thursday.

The Pirates' offense took a little time to get started, but once it did, it didn't stop. The Hall used a 17-2 run in the first quarter to pull away from the feisty Spartans.

Freshman Savannah Catalon (Burleson, Texas) had a game-high 12 points to go with three assists and a game-high five steals.

Last year's defensive dynamo Amari Wright (Jacksonville, Fla.) had four steals to go with eight points and three assists. Newcomer A'Jah Davis (DeKalb, Ill.) pulled down eight rebounds in only 13 minutes.

The Story:

The Pirates were trailing 7-2 to start the game, but over the final 6:53 of the first quarter The Hall went on a 17-2 run and entered the second up, 19-9. Leading 21-14 in the second quarter, Seton Hall took off again and closed out the rest of the half with a 15-2 run to take a 36-16 lead into halftime. The Hall forced 19 turnovers in the first 20 minutes and turned them into 24 points.

The second half wasn't much different as I'yanna Lops (Stamford, Conn.) closed out the third quarter with an impressive three-point play off an offensive rebound. The Hall took a 55-31 advantage in the final stanza.

The Pirates scored the first 13 points of the fourth quarter, and a layup by Azana Baines (Blackwood, N.J.) extended their advantage to 68-31 with 6:42 left in the contest.

Inside the Numbers:
  • Seton Hall was 27-for-64 (42.2%) from the floor for the game, while St. Thomas Aquinas was 16-for-45 (35.6%). The Hall was 6-for-24 (25.0%) from three-point range, while the Spartans were 3-for-16 (18.8%).
  • Catalon finished with team-bests of 12 points and five steals. She also had three assists.
  • The Hall out-rebounded STAC, 36-to-33, which included a 17-to-11 edge on the offensive glass and a massive 20-to-3 advantage in second-chance points.
  • Freshman Micah Gray (Oklahoma City, Okla.) had nine points on the strength of three made three-pointers.
  • Seton Hall was 19-for-23 (82.6%) from the free-throw line, while St. Thomas Aquinas was 3-for-6 (50.0%).
  • Sha'Lynn Hagans (Manassas, Va.) also had nine points to go with three steals.
  • Seton Hall forced 32 turnovers, while STAC forced 12. The Hall had a 42-to-6 advantage in points-off-turnovers.
  • Wright played a game-high 31 minutes and had eight points, four steals and three assists.
  • The Pirates had 17 fast-break points, compared to just two for the Spartans.
  • Davis grabbed a game-high eight rebounds with four points and two steals in only 13 minutes.
  • Baines tallied eight points, six rebounds and two steals.
