The 2014-15 year was another to remember in Seton Hall Athletics, as the Pirates continued to rise in their second year as a member of the revamped BIG EAST Conference.

Highlighted by three NCAA Regional berths (Volleyball, Women's Basketball, Women's Golf),there was no shortage of memorable moments across all 14 varsity athletic programs as Seton Hall student-athletes continued to honor and further the University's proud athletic tradition.

Over three weeks, SHUPirates.com in conjunction with BURG will reveal its countdown of the year that was.

A moment, by definition, is a very brief period of time.

When you consider the immense amount of hours that preceded a milestone performance for the Seton Hall men's swimming & diving team at the 2015 BIG EAST Championships, it is difficult to narrow the scope any smaller than those momentous four days in Ithaca, N.Y.

During the first year of the present BIG EAST Conference, The Hall's Ben Mitchell and JC Logan combined to take home three individual titles on the men's side, joining a group of only four Pirates who had earned gold in the previous two decades.

In 2014-15, Mitchell and Logan entered their senior campaigns looking to remain atop the conference in their respective events but it was a group of nine newcomers who helped propel the Pirates to new heights.

For the veterans, the regular season followed a familiar script with Mitchell further cementing himself as the premier diver in the conference, and in school history, while Logan consistently posted times that ranked among the top performers in the league.

The rookies made their impact felt as well, with Zohar Suslovich, Noah Yanchulis and Matt Zebrowski emerging at the forefront of a group that helped power SHU to nine victories in its first 10 dual meets.

Heading into the conference meet, Mitchell and Logan appeared primed to add to their respective collection of championships but it is always a variable how freshmen will perform in their first trip to the BIG EAST stage.

Mitchell wasted no time in joining an elite group, becoming just the third Pirate with as many as three individual conference titles with a resounding victory from the one-meter board on day one. That same day, Yanchulis joined classmate Cody Wimmer, Cooper Lindsley and Tim Bosse on an 800-free relay team that set a new school record.

Following a day two in which the freshman Wimmer took third in the 500-free, Mitchell and Yanchulis added gold in three-meter and 200-freestyle competition respectively, becoming the first pair of Pirates in program history to reach the top of the podium on the same night.

Not to be outdone, Logan and Zebrowski came back the following night and repeated the feat with the senior defending his title in the 200-breaststroke and Zebrowski outdueling the runner-up Yanchulis for gold in the 200-butterfly.

The wins gave Seton Hall a quartet of champions in one year for the first time ever and pushed the program's record gold medal haul for the meet to five. By comparison, the Pirates' championship ledger from 1994-1013 featured four different title-winners who accounted for a total of seven first-place finishes.

While Mitchell and Logan have completed their decorated careers, the Seton Hall men will return nine All-BIG EAST performers next year who will aim to continue to set new standards as the Pirates forge ahead.
