As I See It

Helping out Dan again this week...

1. Connecticut 17-2 (7-1)
Cling Kong is back for by far the best team in the league. Only question right now is, are they as good as last year? Better? Worse?

2. Creighton 14-5 (5-3)
Split a difficult road trip at UConn/SH. Should continue to hit their stride with the next three games in the friendly confines of Omaha.

3. Marquette 13-5 (4-3)
Tried to give it away at St. John's, but the Red Storm refused to take it. Bounced back nicely this week after two previous losses.

4. Seton Hall 13-6 (6-2)
SJU's hex on this side of the river continues as they were blasted by the Pirates, who then lost the game of the year to Creighton in 3OT. Bench production still a question, but this team continues on the upswing.

5. Villanova 11-7 (4-3)
Not entirely sure what to make of them. Lost a pair this week but played fairly well vs. UConn. This team remains a PITA to play against.

6. St. John's 12-7 (4-4)
Tough times for Slick Rick as they have lost three straight after a 4-1 start. Have to think they'll play desperate against Nova on Wednesday.

7. Xavier 10-8 (4-3)
Nearly got caught sleeping by Georgetown. Road trips to Creighton and UConn this week will tell us if they've really improved or not.

8. Providence 12-6 (3-4)
Annihilated DePaul and now has a week off to rest prior to visiting Seton Hall this Wednesday night.

9. Butler 11-7 (3-5)
Picked up a gimme win vs. DePaul but still seems to be trending down and/or holding towards the bottom of the pack.

10. Georgetown 8-10 (1-6)
Nearly popped Xavier on the road. Cooley heads back to Providence this weekend.

11. DePaul 3-15 (0-7)
No hope.

Kadary’s Triple double…..

Triple double in College Basketball is a helluva feat albeit in OT. but looking closer at Kadary’s stat sheet, he goes 8 for 32 on FGs today, and just took 1 3 pointer. That is a brutal FG% with that may attempts. Could he have distributed the ball more today? He shoots 40% and we win the game easily and he scores 30+.

A lot of different ways you can go with Kadary’s game today. Regardless, he’s been tremendous this season and the effort today he gave can’t be anything but applauded.

New To The Athletic

Just posted to the site minutes ago, a new Dana O'Neil piece discussing the team and today's game.

It's behind the paywall but here's the link.

The Hall is good.

I was not convinced that the Pirates were a top tier team. The wins at PC and UConn were tainted a little with the injuries to Hopkins and Clingan. Always hopeful but a bit skeptical. Now, there is no doubt. The Pirates are good. They play for each other. They are tough. They know their strengths and weaknesses. They are dangerous. I love how they play.

Interesting Week

Looks like polls are locked in with Trump winning NH, Haley a strong second and DeSantis a distant third.

Despite saying he’s focused on SC, it looks like RDS drops out before the end of January. Essentially he could have dropped before Tuesday but that could have created static in the numbers.

Now it becomes a 1:1 with Trump and Haley for five weeks and her opportunity to make her case vs him. She was interviewed on FTN this morning and obvious she is refocusing on criticisms of Trump.

Survive and advance and no one thought (even me) would have thought she would be the last person standing. (I figured by Super Tuesday).

I don’t see how he can avoid a debate with her before March as there will be a lot of pressure to do so.

Moving Forward After The Creighton Game

I wanted to take a step back and comment on Creighton in order to give a better perspective on where this year's Seton Hall team is. How much better can Creighton play than they did in the triple overtime game against SHU? Every strength they had was on display in this game. I guess a Creighton follower could give a different opinion. In the first half they did not allow the SHU crowd to rattle them. Down 9 in the second half they came back in an instant by hitting consecutive three point shots. Their ball movement, passing and use of pump fakes is way above average. They use their bigman to score and prevent separation when they need a hoop. They have guys that can make big perimeter shots at exactly the right time. Well coached and they made that tough clutch hoop to put the game into the OT. They had 6 turnovers(one every 9 minutes). They did get help from the officials without question, but in fairness they won making one more play than SHU. Like I said can they play way better than that game? They are ranked and probably headed to the 2 seed in the BigEast.

So where does Seton Hall currently stand? Amazingly, in a very good place at the moment. The Hall beat the #1 team in the country by 15, a very good Marquette team, pummeled SJU, and lost a heart breaker to a ranked team(playing a high level game) in triple overtime. We cannot discount a very poor OOC campaign, but they have turned it around.

Hopefully, the coaching staff can dissect that game video and make some adjustments. I thought they did a great job having the team ready to play. The crowd was fantastic and a factor. Khadary was most likely playing injured and although he had a triple double, I know he has had way better games than that. Too much forcing the issue on a day where Creighton was converging on him in the paint. 32 shots is too many for any player. Even with that he did a lot to contribute. I just thought Sha needed him to set up Dawes and Wusu more than he did. Also, EHE just played his best game against SJU, and hit an enormous three. Ater that he was not used?? Only 10 minutes to Bediako's 45. From my seat I could not tell if EHE was being exploited on defense, maybe other can give a better opinion. Bediako played a strong game, but maybe Sha could have given him some more rest? He used a lot of energy on both ends. The bottom line is the Providence game is very important and they really need this one. The Hall needs 7 more wins and that's the only thing that matters. Right now, SHU projects to finish 3rd or 4th in the conference. Lots of work to do.

Top 25 Carnage Continues

Posted this in another thread. Updated after last night’s 20 point collapse by Memphis.

Baylor (9) lost @ Kansas St
Memphis (10) vs USF
Wisconsin (11) lost @ Penn St
Utah St (16) lost @ New Mexico
Creighton (18) lost @ UConn
TCU (19) lost @ Cincinnati
Ole Miss (22) lost @ LSU
Iowa State (24) lost @ BYU (20)
Texas Tech (25) lost @ Houston (5)

Then…
Texas Tech (25) plays BYU (20)
Iowa St (24) plays TCU (19)
Ole Miss (22) plays Auburn (13)
Oklahoma (15) plays @ Cincinnati
Marquette (17) plays @ St. John’s
Creighton (18) plays @ Seton Hall

Plenty of top 25 movement already taking place. Huge opportunity tomorrow.

A win and most likely entering the polls somewhere around 18 is my call. If more top 25 fallout. There could be a chance to be even higher.

Carino on the game

I know this was posted in the Articles thread but this deserves its own post.

Love the positive takes from Dre Davis and Al Dawes in this article despite the loss. That gives me a lot of hope.

Our Common Enemy is WHO and other evil Globalists

They are forewarning us again that they are going to release another virus - this time deadlier than the weak ColdVid.

They want countries to bow down to them and kiss their ring so they can dictate their mandates via a one-world power.

All of you , even the obedient serfs, will lose your sovereignty and freedoms if the USA Government letS WHO and Klaus Schwab ultimately RULE us via disease and climate lockdowns and forced “vaccinations “ tied to your credit score.

Before you go vote , ask yourself which candidates will agree to the demise of your civil and human rights and which candidates will stand up to the EVIL.

I have a feeling the usual obedient sheep and useful idiots will not care about the demise and vote for their PARTY or who the regime media props up. I’d like to be surprised though.

HAVE To Rebound From This On Wednesday

Brutal, brutal loss. I can’t even put it into words.

We MUST put this game behind us and beat Providence on Wednesday. Otherwise, I really fear what the psychological and physical fallout from this loss will add up to. Bad losses have a way of gaining momentum. It needs to be stopped immediately. Gotta rebound from this and get back on track.
