NEW YORK - Senior guard Kadary Richmond (Brooklyn, N.Y.) has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after averaging 18.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 6.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for the Seton Hall men's basketball team.

Richmond now has two BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll appearances this season.

Richmond played an instrumental role in the Pirates' 75-60 victory over No. 5 UConn on Dec. 20 at Prudential Center. He put up 23 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and tied a program record with eight steals in 34 minutes. He also went 7-of-7 from the free throw line and he committed only two turnovers against the Huskies. The last Pirate to collect eight steals in a game was Fuquan Edwin against Eastern Washington on Sept. 22, 2013.

In the loss at Xavier, Richmond tallied four more steals to go along with 13 points, eight rebounds and two assists.

Seton Hall will return to action on Jan. 3 as the Pirates travel to No. 25 Providence for a 6:30 p.m. contest on FS1. The Pirates are back at Prudential Center on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2024 for another tough BIG EAST test against No. 6 Marquette. Secure your seats today!

Bad day for Seton Hall, but some good news on the NBA front involving Mamu.

With Wembamyama out with an ankle injury, Mamu came off the bench to play 15 minutes in what is certainly his best individual game of the season. In a blowout loss to the Mavs, Mamu had 14 points(4-6 FG, 5-6 FT) 5 boards, 3 assists and a block. They were Garbage Time minutes, to be sure, but it looks like he took advantage of the opportunity. Good for him!

Mamu continues to do us proud at the next level.

Some may think it’s a bit premature at this point, but need to capitalize on every opportunity in the Big East. With post season aspirations and the Opening Gauntlet of a schedule today’s a must win.

Clingan's absence could be a tough blow to a 10-2 UConn team as it looks to chase the Big East crown​

UConn star big man Donovan Clingan will miss Saturday night's game vs. St. John's and an extended period beyond that after suffering an injury to a tendon in his right foot during Wednesday's Big East opener vs. Seton Hall that is expected to sideline him three-to-four weeks, the team announced on Saturday.

Clingan, a potential All-American who leads the team in shots blocked, box plus/minus and Player Efficiency Rating, would miss seven games if he were sidelined four weeks, with a potential return possible in late January if he suffers no setbacks.

Clingan missed roughly a month earlier in the year after suffering a foot strain just before the start of the season but managed to recover in time for the season-opener on Nov. 6. He played in every game before leaving Wednesday's game in the second half with the injury. Despite returning to the bench after a brief trip to the locker room, he did not return to action in an eventual 75-60 loss for No. 5 UConn.

The defending national champion Huskies have been a force again with a 10-2 record to start the season in large part because of Clingan's leap from rotation piece to starting star, but are uniquely equipped to withstand the short-term blow as he recovers. The team has remade itself with an identity around Tristen Newton and transfer Cam Spencer and has relied heavily on the contributions of Alex Karaban and five-star freshman Stephon Castle.

With Clingan out the next few weeks it could open up an opportunity for former four-star prospect Samson Johnson to assume a starting role in his absence. In 37 games since Johnson's arrival in 2021-22, he has averaged 2.7 points, 1.9 rebounds and 0.4 blocks per game. He has emerged a key rotation piece this season in the midst of a career year, averaging 5.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game while playing a career-high 17.8 minutes per game.

Led by Dylan Harper, the No. 2 recruit in the 2024 class, Don Bosco jumped from outside the rankings to the No. 6 spot after wins over No. 7 Columbus and No. 13 IMG Academy in the tournament's fifth-place game.

Long Island Lutheran battled all the way to the championship, including a win over No. 5 Link Academy, before falling to Montverde, 73-59. Prolific Prep stayed on Montverde's heels by picking up two more wins this season to move to 16-1.
