Healthcare costs rising

https://www.newsnationnow.com/health/weight-loss-drugs-health-care-costs/

Interesting what is driving the 8% increase.
- Why do most insurance companies cover weight loss drugs?
- Purchasing these drugs in other industrialized nations would be out-of-pocket.
- This doesn’t incentivize the real issue of most health related problems-diet and exercise. Only in America.
- No one talks about long term effects of being on these drugs.

Our healthcare costs are approaching 20% of GDP.

OT: Baseball, Judge and Ohtani

As i got older, the only sport that didn't lose my interest to some extent was college hoops as played by the Seton Hall Pirates.

But i watch baseball all season. What a game. And today, we can watch Judge and Ohtani (tho to be honest haven't watched a yankee game in years. But Judge, just incredible).

"All time great" gets thrown around a lot. But these two guys playing in NYC and LA at the same time. Give me a break. Last night Ohtani gets an infield hit and steals his 40th. No throw. Then a walk off grand slam to win the game in the bottom of the ninth. Judge hits his 49th.

Lots of Dodger and Yankee greats. But these two guys, man o man. Another Dodger/Yankee WS? (Oh the pain lol) or another LA first round exit? I don't know. But we don't get to see guys like this too often.

Agustin Resch Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week

NEW YORK - Coming off scoring the game-winning goal and helping earn a clean sheet in the men's soccer team's season-opening 1-0 victory, junior Agustin Resch (Arata, Argentina) has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday.

Resch provided all the offense the Pirates needed last Thursday night when he headed in a corner kick from fellow junior Virgil Dall'Agnol (Grenoble, France) past the FIU goalkeeper top middle. It was his second career goal. Resch also was part of The Hall's back line efforts as the Pirates limited the Panthers to three shots on goal.

Seton Hall won its season opener under head coach Andreas Lindberg for the fifth time in seven tries, and the Pirates are unbeaten in all seven (5-0-2). The Pirates will now host their home opener Thursday night against UAlbany at Owen T. Carroll Field at 6:56 p.m. All Seton Hall home games are free to attend.

TROVE: Has the way in which you interact with the team or the way you coach changed as a result of this new landscape?

BOZZELLA: Yeah, the way I interact with them for sure, because I'm getting a lot of older kids that have played for different college coaches. So, I need to try and get to know them right away and find out what makes them tick, good or bad, because a lot of them only have one year of eligibility, maybe two. On the younger side I want to get to know them a little better because I know if I don't get to know them right away as freshmen, they may not be there as sophomores. And I ask my staff to do a lot of it, and they do a great job. DeDe [Simmons] and Cassandra [Callaway], Jose [Rebimbas] and Pete [Cinella] and Shakena [Richardson] , especially the females, they do a wonderful job of establishing the relationship and trust with the kids. And you would hope it works.

I don't want to make this interview about Micah, but Miach was in Cassandra's office on a daily basis. She worked out with Cassandra and DeDe on a daily basis, all the time. I remember saying to Micah, 'We spent all this time with you.' And she said, 'Well, that's what you're supposed to do.' I was like excuse me? And she was just like, 'Yeah, that's just the way it is now.' And I said, 'No, that's not the way it is. And you'll find that out when you go to the next place.'

TROVE: Things that are a little bit more in your control are the facilities. How will the men's new practice facility change things for your program?

BOZZELLA: First of all, I'm really excited and you have to thank all our great fans for contributing to it, but it also comes with a benefit for the women's side. One, yes, we can use it, but I want it to be Sha's home and the boys' home. I don't mean that in a bad way, I mean that in a great way, because we have access to our gym 100% of the time now during basketball season. All of our offices are being moved to where the men's are and it's going to be state of the art - everything from furniture to computers to everything. So all that stuff is changing. It's going to look beautiful.

And then we're going to take where our offices are and it's going to be all new state of the art locker rooms for our girls, you name it, everything: locker room, some video room, training area, kitchen, lounge. So, our girls are going to have the best of the best in a year. It's benefiting everyone. And, you know, Bryan Felt and before him Pat Lyons always have been great with making sure the women have been treated fantastically. And I never use the word equal, because it's not about equality, it's about just are we being given what we need to give to be competitive. And that's the goal that Seton Hall and the athletic department has always achieved. And I mean that sincerely because you know me, I wouldn't say anything if I didn't mean it. They're always good. So I think this new facility, which yes of course is Sha going to let us go in there and practice? Of course he would because he's great. But we don't need to because we're going to be able to control our area. So we'll have our own little niche, each of us, which is going to be great.”

Tavana's Second Half Goal Lifts Pirates At Rider, 1-0

Lawrenceville, N.J. -- After creating dozens of chances individually, senior Natalie Tavana (Middletown, Conn.) scored a goal in the 67th minute that lifted the Seton Hall women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Rider on Sunday evening.

Seton Hall (2-1-1) finished with a dominant 24-5 advantage in shots and a 10-2 edge in shots on goal. Tavana now has 19 career goals and two goals this season, both assisted by freshman Olivia Beauvois (Windsor, Conn.). Tavana set career highs with nine shots and five shots on target.

How It Happened

Seton Hall controlled the possession battle in the first half and it had put up six shots to Rider's two through the first 10 minutes. In the 11th minute, Tavana forced a turnover and found herself one-on-one with the keeper. The keeper dove and made contact with Tavana's foot, drawing a penalty kick opportunity. Pucci stepped to the spot and delivered a strike that went off the center of the crossbar and back into play, keeping the score knotted at 0-0.

The Pirates continued to create opportunities in the first 10-plus minute of the second half where they put up seven shots and didn't allow a single Rider shot. Rider's first shot on goal came 61 minutes into the game but it was saved by freshman Avery Strohecker (Riding, Va.). More than five minutes later, Beauvois possessed in the Pirates' attacking half and sent a shot that reached the outside of the six-yard box. Tavana was able to get a foot on the attempt and it ricocheted into the goal.

Inside The Box Score
  • Tavana now has 19 career goals and 47 career points.
  • Tavana is now tied for second in program history with Courtney Wood with 146 shots taken.
  • Senior Anna Prawer (London, England) and Strohecker combined to shutout the Broncs with Strohecker making two saves.
  • Tavana, senior Chiara Pucci (Munich, Germany), sophomore Lily Camacho (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and freshman Kylie Ray (Hampden, Mass.) played the full 90 minutes.
  • Caroline Lipton (Alexandria, Va.) played the most minutes off the bench, playing 46 minutes, and had a shot on goal.
  • Junior Sarah Mitchell (Perth, Australia) played 26 minutes off the bench, her first extended time in more than a year due to injury.
