2021 Basketball Team Recruiting Rankings

You can’t be serious
The Big East invited UConn to join the league for one reason, to elevate the conference. For years the Big East has been Villanova and everyone else, UConn will challenge Villanova for the top spot going forward. The league now has two guaranteed top 25 teams, with Creighton, Seton Hall, Butler and others vying to be significant as well.

You're only kidding yourself if you don't believe that UConn has elevated the Big East in the eyes of potential recruits, Patrick Ewing seems to be affecting the league similarly.

In due time, sure.... but not yet

UConn’s return has helped so far but will help more going forward. Great brand with many National Championships
UConn can take a backseat to us, thanks! Seton Hall must remain in at least the top three in the conference though preferably higher. No excuses.

MikeWalsh, with whom I only sometimes see eye-to-eye, is dead-on about UCONN.

UConn’s return to the Big East has boosted the strenght of the Conference and has a national following which will increase viewership , the primary reason it was allowed to join. But to suggest that it’s return to the BE will boost the appeal of recruits to consider other programs in the conference is a specious argument. Does GT having Pat Ewing as it’s head coach attract recruits to consider SH , of course not. Has the Gold Standard in Nova and Jay Wright helped DePaul or Butler attract recruits to their program ? SH and every other team in the Conference sells the potential recruit on its strengths and why a recruit should come to play for SH. It may sell the overall strength of the Conference’s teams and the number of teams it sends to the Big Dance . The return of UConn is an asset to the Conference but let’s not paint it as a savior , the BE was doing well without UConn .

Exactly! The Big East saved UConn. UConn in no way “saved” the Big East. The Big East has been just fine. UConn was languishing in mid major hell. The Big East offered them a seat at the big boy table.

Did they help yes. Did they save the BE no. We don’t have to like them. I see a future of Nova constantly in the top 25 and 3-5 others including SHU always also in the top 25. I can live with that. I just don’t have to like UCONN.

Did being in the BE help us? Uconn makes the BE better. Imo the idea that they help a little in all ways makes a lot of sense. Frankly, some of the arguments made here about us being all set are the most ridiculous. We got a lifeline once when we had nothing to offer. Uconn was invited and is a factor already. They make the league better. That helps. We are not going to hear a kid say I picked shu cause uconn joined the league. But the better the league, the better we can do.

Imo, the uconn and ru talk is tedious.

LOL, who said UCONN saved the BE?
