Seton Hall is now 299th in the country in 3PT%, 323rd in 3PA:FGA ratio, 334th in % of points from 3. Yikes. You better have some brilliant offensive scheme if you're going to be competitive with that lack of production in this day and age.

And not to mention our defense has been terrible out there as well.

Rutgers: Outscored 36-9 (12/24 vs. 3/20)
Baylor: Outscored 30-12 (10/22 vs. 4/13)
Iowa: 24-21 SHU (8/27 vs. 7/19) but a misleading volume stat with awful %)
USC: Outscored 30-9 (10/23 vs. 3/16)

That's .443 against us (39/88) in those 4 games and every team shot it well. Insane. Meanwhile The Hall shot .237 (18/76) and never more than .307 in a single game. I mean...

Al-Amir Dawes came into this year a career .375 3PT shooter. He's at .317 and was 8/37 in those 4 games.

Dyan Addae-Wusu came into this year a career .350 3PT shooter. He's at .286 and was 6/20 in those 4 games.

This is a question of talent and/or commitment by the player to improve their shooting. Coaching is about finding ways to get players enough shots.

Given that we’re relying heavily on the portal, you need to find players to make up for a talent gap like this. Shaheen really didn’t do it this past off season.

Year one it was, the issue was that these are not his guys even though most of them transferred in to him.
Two year roster turnover again with his guys. Same results but actually worse

Post game conference calls and says not really sure what this team is.

This is getting really frustrating and confusing.

I will say hats off to the student section who once again did a great job, but in order for them to continue to show up and give those efforts along with the rest of the fans, what’s on the court needs to change

Playing sound defense has a number of elements to it and includes :
1.- being taught the right technique by the coaching staff.
2.- buy in by the players to commit to play defense and
3. play defense from the start of the game to the final whistle.

At this point in the season, even though the season really hasn’t started but it is over. The focus needs to be on.
1. developing Coleman and Sanders along with the big men. Put both of them in the starting lineup going forward.
2. continue to have Richmond shine along with Davis for potential draft, and or professional career overseas.
3. start recruiting in the transfer portal now for point guard for next year
4. raise NIL money, and pray to God that that’s going to be the answer

Even under willard these guys over and over again cheat off their man on the 3 pt line to help. Stop already!! Stick to ur man on the perimeter and stop helping in the post unless u know ur defendimg zach edey.

Idk how we can see it but staff doesnt. They must. Then its just about the players doing what they are told. I dont even mimd a quick fake help and retreat back to the 3

This 1000 percent. It’s laughable how many passes to the post are followed by a double and a pass out of the double for an open 3. Maybe we ought to try that on our offensive sets.

Dylan is a damn good on ball defender. Outside of that hes very ehhh, or our sysyem doesnt allow for him to thrive
I'm leaning towards your second thought personally. All these posts that he's awful.... All I remember is our game vs St John's last year. I was shocked how non existent Posh was and Dylan was seemingly lighting us up. So much so I tapped on the shoulder of the St John's fan in front of me and asked who he was and if Posh was hurt. Dawes on the other hand... I have a friend who's a Clemson fan and while he wishes he stayed agrees he's terribly inconsistent.

As section 112 posted there are no shooters on this team. And guys like Richmond or Davis who can score really have no 3 point shot or even mid range jump shot. Harris could not hit a 3 point shot for an entire season and Dawes is headed there too. Sometimes you have to abandon the 3. And no question defending the 3 point shot has been bad since the Woolford game years ago. Most teams shoot lights out from 3 against us for a reason.

The double whammy is impossible to overcome. This is 2023. You can't be unable to shoot the 3 and be unable to defend it. It's impossible to win that way. And by win I'm not talking about the soft schedule, I'm talking about legit power conference foes that the program is judged against.

Imo kw did a bad job getting guys open looks. Used to think myles would average 35 against us.

I don’t think he does anything particularly well but has been touted over and over as this glue guy because his poor stats are “supported” by the little things he supposedly does well.

Dawes CYO shooting performance was the big difference. This tesm will have a losing record after 6 or 7. tops conference wins Outside of Richmond we have lower level Big East talent and we may have DePaul like attendance in a few years.

I blame the poor 3 pt shooting on our coaching staff. Offensive plays and fundamentals seem non-existent. Coach apparently is following the Willard model of iso ball for one or two razzle dazzle players.

In regard to our absolutely horrendous 3pt defense, I blame the coach. Great coaches are great teachers. Shaheen teaches maximum effort but there is more to coaching than that. Right now Sha just seems like a high strung version of Eddie Jordan, the former. Rutgers coach.

How do these mid majors knock off top 50 teams? They can't recruit top 100 kids so they must have a system to maximize the talent. We don't have the talent and prob dont have the coaching. Even sadder is these guys are experienced seniors

Both. Lack of talent and lack of coaching when you continue to allow one player to shoot you out of games.

Well, at least we practice rebounding.

We should ask that guy who coached St. Peter's in the Elite Eight tournament run
