Desi was giant, Angel is a great inner presence, Isaiah is Isaiah[meaning that, even when he isn't scorching the cords], he's still just a wonderful all-around talent, and leader, Ish is the unsung hero of this gang, Derrick Gordon, oh my, how many times am I going to say that he should have been here from the get-go!
And don't forget Deeno, even when he doesn't light up the board, he contributes in many ways-and Michael Nzei, 4 big pts at just the right moment, plus bounds and D and hustle. Even Rashid, sometimes slighted, comes in to give Angel a blow, fights hard, good team guy, starting next yr I see some O production coming from him.
Over the last few days, I have developed an aim for this Pirate team: a Big East Championship! We spend all our time obsessing over the NCAA Tourney, but wouldn't it be sweet to earn a 2016 league championship to hang perpetually from the Walsh rafters? Wouldn't a Sat evening W over Villa[or whomever] just be exhilarating!
Yes, I know, the big guy is the thing, but, you know what, I go back to when this league started, and to add a 3rd Title to our history would just be delicious, wouldn't all you loyalists agree?
