Abdi Bashir from Monmouth in the portal

Not a fan of Bashir’s game at all. Chucker extraordinaire. He can certainly fill it up though.

Then we never had 5 million. All we have is a promise of money that everybody else is getting. So all things equal we’re still the lowest in the conference. But it was presented here that we secured our own 5 million to spend.
The entire discussion around the $5 million was that it was coming from revenue sharing. We have that money but can’t be spent yet. Then hopefully we would be able to raise some additional money through NIL/collective like the $1.5 million SHU raised last year.

If we don’t have much $$$ outside of revenue sharing then I’m not sure how Holloway will be able to land front line players. All the commitments we’re seeing now are the big collectives front loading money to players before the House agreement goes into effect.

IMHO SHU needs $7 million from all sources. I’ve posted this amount several times but what do I know?

If in fact the $5 million is in revenue sharing, then SHU can’t spend that money until the House settlement is approved. Programs are front loading commitments using NIL money from their collectives and paying signing bonuses. Does SHU even have much NIL money to spend?
No, we only had $1.5 million last year.

This. It’s been the open question in addition to how our current coach manages this process.

Proof is in the pudding. It’s April 8th. We got a player from Merrimack who maybe has upside and - again - for the 3rd consecutive year under this regime we lost our best player to another school. At least it wasn’t within the BE again.

IMO it's even worse than that. What I've heard reported from the Athletic Department is we have $4M but could go to 5 if needed to get a player we like. And to make things worse I believe that what was raised by OS is INCLUDED in that number. It seems that the OS donations have already been combined with Pirate Blue to get us to $4M.

As we've seen reported, the average BE team has $5.7M in Rev Share. If we are at $4M we are dead last again. Based on players signed by the rest of the league and our actions so far it seems like we're still broke.

This is the most accurate response I have seen based on the way I read it.

The school is spinning the donors money as revenue sharing. Carino’s article even had Felt say the collective donors can now give to Pirate Blue and get their tax write off again.

No where have I read that Seton Hall is committing to take $4-5m off the top of what they currently bring in of their own money.

Also people have to be corrected when they keep saying, “the money we are going to get” from revenue sharing. The NCAA isn’t giving us anything. The settlement back pays athletes prior and allows schools to direct their own money to players going forward with a cap that is projected to be a $20.5m.

The NCAA will also have Deloitte acting as an auditor / clearinghouse of all NIL deals from collectives going forward. If they deem that the “pay for play” is not in line with the players NIL value (not sure how that gets determined) they can deem the player ineligible and even reduce the schools $20.5m cap as a penalty.

So schools are taking all their collective money at the moment and grandfathering it into deals for players before all this seemingly goes into effect.

At the moment Seton Hall has absolutely NO MONEY compared to everyone else.

I dont think many people at all say or think they here..most understand the deal thanks

I’ve been asking for months and months if our school released a rev share plan. I think that is truly where something is massively wrong

We do not operate an actual D1 athletics dept…while that is not a good thing it SHOULD have given us a leg up where we don’t have to worry about sharing with any other sport

The fact we have no money to share is alarming
