Seton Hall added the final piece to its 13 man roster with the announcement this past week from Abdou Ndiaye that he had committed to Seton Hall and it's new head coach Shaheen Holloway.

Ndiaye is a product of Senegal’s SEED Academy (also known as SEED Project), which identifies talented players in that country and then sends them to the United States. A path traveled by the 6-9 Ndiaye in 2016.

There he tutored under former Senegalese NBA players Mouhamed Sene, who played for the Seattle/Oklahoma City franchise and the New York Knicks, and Gorgui Dieng, who won a National Championship at Louisville and played for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

As a junior his first year in the states playing for The Masters School in Dobbs Ferry, NY, Ndiaye oozed of high-end potential. As a floor stretcher with a fluid outside shot and the ability to catch and post as a legitimate interior scoring threat, Ndiaye was one of the top young players in New York State at the time.

After that season during the summer he played for AAU New Heights, a program that has a very good relationship with the Pirates and has strong connections to the SEED program.

The following season Ndiaye would continue his HS career at the now defunct The Nation Christian Academy in Florida, where he utilized his all-around scoring and played a vital role. Ndiaye averaged 27 points and 14 rebounds to go with five blocks per game. With that play he caught the eye of schools like DePaul, Georgetown, Cincinnati, Ole Miss, UNLV Wichita State, and others high D1 programs. But wanting to improve his game by playing as many minutes as possible he eventually chose the mid major Redbirds of Illinois State.

Unfortunately Adiaya never realized his potential there and in three years posted pedestrian numbers in limited time. Now he hopes that changes under the tutelage of the Pirate staff.

There is still upside in the thin (200 LBS) Ndiaye, with his 7-foot-3 wingspan and shot blocking ability. But he will start off behind the Hall's three other power players, Alexis Yetna, Tyrese Samuel and newly acquired KC Ndefo. providing bench depth in both games and practice.

There is also one other factor in the Hall's recruitment of the young man from Senegal, two prized recruits in the class of 2023 who visited Seton Hall recently, 6-10 Baye Fall and 6-10 Assane Diop, also hail from Senegal. Is there a connection? Clearly the Pirates hope so.
