ABSOLUTE MUST READ - STEVE SAUERS

Watch the short video. Steve has suffered for many years and kept it to himself, He now realizes that was a mistake and wants to help those that need help.

I have known Steve since the early days of the Gonzo era and he has a heart of gold. One day at SHU he saw PirateSal and I walking around the REC Center and not knowing us at all came over and sat with us to just talk SHU basketball. That was the beginning of a wonderful relationship I had with Steve that continues to this very day.

Now, once again Steve wants to reach out to talk, not about SHU basketball but mental health. Those that know Steve, especially from the Booster Club, know he is a friendly, engaging speaker. Often he would speak to us about the team under both Gonzalez and Willard. Now he wants to talk about a different subject.

If you need help or know someone who does, give him a call, It could change your/their life.

Spoke to Steve last night. He wanted to thank those here for their kind words. They mean the world to him as he is conquering his issues and like any of us needs the encouragement.

It's fantastic that Steve is doing this, it's a much needed service that doesn't get as much airplay as it should. Helps Steve too, I'm sure, as anyone in these situations should seek to talk to friends, family, professionals, etc. Better out than in.

And to Steve, all joking aside, these things have a way of working themselves out.

Has survived in a very tough industry in spite of the issue he’s been dealt. Mentally tough in his own way . Way to go Steve.

I've never met Steve, but I know what it's like to struggle with mental health issues. I've had OCD most of my life and experienced debilitating anxiety at two different stages in my life. It's difficult to understand the pain if you haven't been through it.

My goal is to engage Steve in mental health seminars for SHU students, sponsored by HHOD and promoted by our athletes. Half the battle is knowing that you're not alone and that you're not crazy.

Steve, if you're reading this thread, reach out to me to discuss mental health seminars for students:

All the best to Steve and others who suffer on a daily basis!!!

What does Steve currently do? I always see him courtside at the games with Slick backed hair looking like the agent in He Got Game, heard he was an agent now but no idea for who ?

I had the chance to meet Steve at the Beefsteak Dinner a couple of years ago when we happened to sit next to one another. He came off as a nice, personable guy as you might expect of someone who essentially spent his career as a salesperson.

IIRC at that time he was working with an app that he was pitching to college coaching staffs.
