Downing improved to 3-0 on the season after allowing just two baserunners in three innings and Cole Hansen tossed three strong innings to start the game. Ryan Frontera had an RBI single that served as the Pirates' first run of the day.

How It Happened

With two outs, Jimmy Brennan reached on a walk and moved to second on an infield single off the bat of Kevin Milewski. Frontera then stepped to the plate and rocketed a single back up the middle that scored Brennan from second.

Downing came on in relief in the top of the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 inning before he got three groundouts to retire the side in the top of the eighth. Brennan and Milewski reached on back-to-back walks in the home half of the eighth and pinch hitter Magnus Kreiger later worked a two-out walk that loaded the bases. The next batter was Tommy Manzo who picked up an RBI on a walk that cut Saint Joseph's lead to one, 3-2. Soldra followed and tied the game at 3-3 with a bases loaded walk of his own. Ali was then able to deliver the game changing hit, driving a single through the left side that plated Manzo and Kreiger.
