America, leading industrialized nation that lacks common sense

1. Voter ID Cards should be required
2. Every citizen should automatically be registered to vote upon turning 18
3. Election Day should either become a national, federal holiday or be moved to a weekend
4. Voting should be electronic. It's ridiculous we're filling out scantrons.
5. The EC needs to be updated (the current intent -- read: not original -- is so that the few more populous states don't always determine the election, but the last few elections have been determined by the same 6 or 7 states anyway).
6. A bit more radical: as someone who always thought of himself as a small-government right-leaning centrist (until Trump took office), I believe the federal government, and not the states, should set voting standards (e.g., voting hours, number of locations, mail-in ballot counting rules, etc.), and should be constitutionalized.

Just some things I believe should be addressed. We have a somewhat third-world mindset to how we vote.

4. People will say hacking, conspiracy to break into system and change outcomes, but i supppose biometric security layer is possible

Agree with all of that except for #4. Ideally it should able to be audited. Electronic system on it's own doesn't really allow for that.

Ha.. Just went there in my last post.
Input protections wouldn't really matter if data can be manipulated after that. It is a risk, and a paper trail would greatly reduce the risk.

Kill chain documentary on HBO is worth a watch.

Just voted in PA for the first time and it is electronic with a corresponding paper ballot that gets printed for review and approval. Seems like they got this.

The 6 or 7 that as of late have “decided” the election are relatively fair microcosms of our entire country

You'd think, but very few states have that type of system in place.
Klobuchar and James Lankford cosponsored a bill which would make a paper trail a requirement.
Bipartisan bill to protect election integrity? Mitch blocked it of course.

What else was in the bill?

haha weird mine was electronic last time but this time had to sharpie in the circles and feed it throgh a scantron. in any case my family's experience was that voting in and drop off was easy and given a reaponse the bote was processed for each method.

Number 3 makes too much sense. It seems like some politicians try to suppress the votes rather then encourage people to vote.

Looks like Biden will win this today with Wisconsin and possibly Michigan going his way. If for some reason Trump pulls it out which is looking more and more doubtful you will hear Dems cry about the electoral college again - it's like clockwork.

I enjoyed flipping the channels last night watching the MSM cry in their soup that Trump actually had a chance. They are wrong more often than a clock set five minutes ahead because they keep pushing the Kool aid and drinking it at the same time. The MSM disgusts me as well as big tech. Good news for markets though that the Repubs will hold the Senate slowing down the Dems increasing taxes considerably. That is what I predicted a Biden win and Repubs holding the Senate.

Amazes me that so many in high tax states keep voting for politicians that will raise their taxes and then they bitch about it but they keep doing the same thing election after election. Insanity.

I'm curious why the polls were so wrong. Just a week ago Washington Post and ABC, Biden wins Wisconsin by 17%. Do we live in a country where people need to be afraid to give their honest opinion?

I watched CNN last night their commentary was fair up until senile Trump went to the podium to tell america we will go to scotus and stop counting votes

Not from me. It is still an outdated concept which I believe has outlived its usefulness.

A close split in the senate might be the better outcome for our country. Need to find a way to be less divided and as much as a democratic senate would accomplish policy goals I might agree with more, I don't think things pushing things through would bring us together. I also don't think Mitch holding up any democratic proposal will bring us together either though... so fingers crossed on that one.

Mitch and Lindsay are part of the problem, career senate politicians, not saying Biden isnt, but special interets lobbysists etc

it just needs to be tweaked. idk why someones vote in montana has 4x the power as mine. or do a reevaluation of why we chose the number of votes for each state. even if it ends up staying the same it helps to know that each state is given a sensible amount of votes for the same reason as the rest of the states.

Nothing like Menendez or Spartacus.
Mitch, Lindsey, Spartacus, Nancy, Menendez all part of the problem. And the Dems should be lambasting Harry Reid for taking the nuclear option years ago or the Supreme Court would be different now. Career politicians are killing this country.

Your buddy Booker has been in big pharma's pocket since he arrived in DC. Career Senators of BOTH stripes are part of the problem. Is it that painful for you to say?
Not sure he is my buddy but ok i comprehend your point on this. Overall this is why state wide republicans have problems in NJ, what is their platform to cross over and get unregistered voters or middle road dems at gov level and senate level?

This cant just be unions are the decider

Term limits unfortunately is an idea whose time has not come .Politicans so anxious to remain in office.

Would a dual layer security buffer like duo and okta with a digital footprint receipt be advanced enough to enable biometric voting in the future?

Had a seat next to Booker on a plane ride back from Vegas. Guy is really full of himself, luckily no delays and I was able to get off the plane quickly when it landed.

Was proud to vote against him yesterday. Unfortunately we're going up against a herd of sheep in this state.

Shu09 give me a platform that will improve us civicly vs just bashing candidates of one party or the other....the incumbent party felt that no action the last 7 months was action

Sadly we do need to be afraid. Exactly 4 years ago I watched a pollster on TV and tell the anchorwoman that the people who voted for Trump were either Racist, Misogynist or uneducated. There have been many instances of people wearing Trump gear being attacked
