SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The Seton Hall men’s soccer team (0-10-1, 0-4-0) suffered a double-overtime setback to DePaul (3-10-0, 2-2-0) by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday night at Owen T. Carroll Field. The Blue Demons got a 101st minute golden goal from John Freitag as part of a three-point night for the defender to snag a late victory.
The Pirates got goals from Danny Bartok (Union, N.J.) and Spencer Burkhardt (Palmyra, Pa.) in the contest, erasing a first-half deficit and briefly going ahead in the second half with Burkhardt’s first career goal. The Blue Demons leveled the score in the 84th minute with Simon Megally’s team-leading sixth goal of the year off a Freitag cross, before Freitag took it on himself to net the winner in extra time.
Bartok’s goal in the 60th minute came off an assist from Burak Ozdemir (Sewell, N.J.), the first career point for the freshman. Burkhardt tallied 20 minutes later with a scintillating strike from 25 yards out, buried into the top left corner of the cage. Eric Lagg (Lafayette, N.J.) started the scoring play and picked up his first helper of the year in the process.

Four minutes after Burkhardt put The Hall ahead, Freitag lofted a cross across the box to the awaiting head of Megally to equalize the contest in the 84th minute. The goal forced an eventual overtime and led to a double-overtime golden goal.
