Last time Prof Ed and I went to JSBL together, Long committed to SHU that night.

Posters might enjoy this. Brought back memories for me at Jerry Lynch's and Bob Verga.

Thanks. Lynchs was a 20 minutes walk from my house. Saw a TON of games there. Used to play there in the daytime too. Though Verga was local, lots were not fond of him and the crowd might get on him. If they did he scored 55 instead of 40. And by then, he was a man in an NBA guards body, was tough as hell, and if you got on his nerves, expect a serious bo to your mug on one of his drives (ask Mo Layton...). There used to be a team that was a HS all star team. In one game, OKoren takes baseline and jams over the Knicks back up center, a serious facial. OKoren was a rising HS Sr. I think Dabney and Copeland played on that team before going to RU and of course Sparnarkel.

Not sure if any of the even older timers than me hung in Belmar in the 50s. Lynch's was called the Aloha. My Dad owned it.

Wow great stuff. I remember Lynch's from 1968 on. So true about Verga. I recall one game where the opposing coach got a T for complaining about the foul calls Verga was getting then said to the ref you can get his autograph later and got tossed . Glad you could access the article.
