1 Xavier 17-2 5-2 -- Going against the Nova grain. Like the toughness and depth of this team

2 Villanova 17-3 7-1 -- Still have to dethrone the king

3 Providence 17-3 5-2 -- Dunn and Bentil best 1-2 punch in the league by far

4 Creighton 14-6 5-2 -- Incredible job by McBuckets dad

5 Seton Hall 13-6 3-4 -- Time to make hay. Tough part of schedule is behind them

6 Georgetown 12-8 5-2 -- Two big home games this week to prove their mettle

7 Butler 13-6 2-5 -- Show me results not rankings. Next 4 games very winnable

8 Marquette 13-7 3-5 -- Twin towers not getting job done as expected

9 DePaul 7-12 1-6 -- Can upset a team if they're not ready

10 St. John's 7-13 0-7 -- In a class by themselves

Gotta question SHU/Georgetown. This is results to date, and somehow they've managed 5-2 in the Big East with a win at Xavier. That's a fluke?

Providence

The season has been longer than 7 games. Less you have forgotten losses to Radford, Monmouth and UNC Ashville, all at home.

BTW, 4 of those 5 Big East wins have come against DePaul (twice) St John's and Marquette.

It's us and Georgetown to fight it out for the Dance. Head to head will count a lot. If their threes are dropping- a big if- we're toast. If not, we can beat them.

The way I see it is that the Big East has three locks. Nova, Xavier and Providence.

Seton Hall, Butler, Georgetown and Creighton will probably fight for 2-3 more spots. It won't come down to just us and Georgetown.

1) Villanova
2) Xavier
3) Providence

4) Creighton
5) Georgetown
6) Seton Hall
7) Butler

8) Marquette

9) DePaul

1. Nova
2. Prov.

4. Creighton (I see them falling off)
5. Gtown
6. Hall
7. Butler

8. Marquette
9. DePaul

10. St John's

Not forgetting them, but putting a lot of stock in winning away games despite SPK's away court advantage (3-1 in Big East play, regardless of opponents). I recognize we are 2-2 away but that Xavier win is strong. Not a wide margin and the middle of the pack are interchangeable daily.

Butler is a team i'm keeping an eye on. I thought they'd be very good. None of their losses are bad, but you'd think they would have pulled out a couple of them. If they lose to either Marquette or DPU this week, they are in hot water.

I agree with your top four and the middle three are all quite close; I just have em in a different order:

5 Butler
6 Georgetown
7 Seton Hall

Two reasons: If each team played each other five times each right now, I couldn't see us doing any better than 2-3 vs. GT or Butler. Butler's BE losses have been to Providence (twice), Xavier, Villanova and at Creighton, so they've had a pretty tough schedule thus far.

I'll buy into the same top 3 and the teams ranked from 4 to seven but in different order.
4. Creighton - biggest surprise in the conference.
5. GT - better talent then Butler
6. Butler - just a step behind GT
7. SH - too inconsistent to be any higher

8. Marquette - my surprise team has been the biggest disappointment to date.
9. DePaul - right where everyone projected they would be.

10. SJU - too many obstacles to overcome this year to finish anywhere but last.

We can't afford any more bad losses. Would be nice to get another W in the home games we have against PC and Xavier, need to sweep St. John's, DePaul, Marquette, ge splits against butler, Gtown, Creighton. Gets you 10 wins if my math is good.

The contenders

1. Nova. Loss against PC not as bad as loss against Georgetown. And they did beat Xavier by four touchdowns and a field goal.

2. Xavier. Might be the best team, but beat nova to prove it.

3. Providence. Back in the top group.

The bubble teams

4. Seton Hall. Seven games to make or break their season. Everyone should be exoecting 5-2 over that run. Anything less and it is panic button time.

4 (t) Butler. Real disappointing lately, but like seton hall now is their time.

Too little too late?

6. Creighton. Sorry, not a believer yet. Not bad, not good, just blah.

7. Georgetown. Never seen a team play with such a lack of sense of urgency than what I saw from Georgetown in that loss against uconn or at least since georgetown's other close losses. Stand around and be patient is not an offensive play.

8. Marquette. Lose to DePaul and your bubble pops. Pop!

Just garbage, not worth ranking

DePaul, St John's.
