We are currently averaging about 7800 for the home conf games (7th in the conf). For away games, we are second in the conference averaging 11,800.should be more than that as the game goes on....hopefully!
Many people differ on noon games, 9 pm starts, etc. It's all personal preference. But I haven't seen anyone laud a 6:30 start. It is a rough time to tip in a major city like Newark.I say 6,800 reported in the box score and officially announced. I believe they still used tickets distributed for reporting attendance. As far as actual through the turnstiles I say 5,500.
The 6:30 start will surely make it empty at intro per the above and what do people think about the switch to 6:30 having on overall attendance for these games. USF game was also moved to a 6:30 start.
My guess is 5-6k.
"Plus Butler is a solid program, but maybe not a marquee draw."
Yes, but you hate to see them in your NCAA bracket. Somewhat like Princeton back in the day.
Is that right? I always figured it was to give a little more breathing room between that game and a 9 p.m. tip, but I actually don't know if there is a 9 p.m. game tonight. You could be right, though.FS1 does it to try and get eyes away from the espn 7pm tip I believe tho
To me it makes sense, so I always assumed that was the reason. But maybe I am wrong. Is that right? I always figured it was to give a little more breathing room between that game and a 9 p.m. tip, but I actually don't know if there is a 9 p.m. game tonight. You could be right, though.
There's no second game on FS1 tonight. After the SHU game, there is an international soccer game on live. The only other game tonight is a 7 p.m. matchup between Marquette and Providence of CBS Sports. Is that right? I always figured it was to give a little more breathing room between that game and a 9 p.m. tip, but I actually don't know if there is a 9 p.m. game tonight. You could be right, though.
My guess is 7k by 7PM and kniespolice posts at 6:15PM that nobody is in the building

Fox's soccer contract is in the billions (primarily because of World Cup rights), so I'm willing to bet the Mexico game (usually a huge draw in the U.S.) was the biggest factor for the SHU game getting bumped.I don't know too many people that are home and ready to watch a game by 6:30 PM but I guess there are a lot of people who maybe do shift work or get out earlier in the day. The earliest I even turn on a TV is 8 PM or so unless of course SHU is playing an away game. But I'm sure the TV folks know a lot more than I do.
Well, there it is. Can't argue with those ratings.Fox's soccer contract is in the billions (primarily because of World Cup rights), so I'm willing to bet the Mexico game (usually a huge draw in the U.S.) was the biggest factor for the SHU game getting bumped.
Lol I got a chuckle out of that. I hope we get 7K tonight!
Crowd was fine. Not great, but I would say at least 6000 and probably a little more. The crowd looked great on TV. They were loud too.
SHU Athletics doesn't do enough marketing, promotions, etc to fill the lower bowl.
The Living Social promo that I had posted sold around 270 tickets, but why can't the athletic dept work at doing group sales with CYO teams and/or other youth groups?
They should also try to book Willard on local sports radio shows and the like.
Most NJ sports fans are not too aware of how good of a season the Pirates are having thus far.
2k more fans last night just may have made a difference.
Why don't you know this? There are countless places to get thus info. I get emails from the athletic dept all the time. Schedules are all over the net. They called me 4 times to remind me of the time change last night. Promotion is tons better than it used to be. You can buy a season ticket for 150 bucks. The problem is SHU fans, plain and simple. Games are too late, too early, conflict with nyg game, so tedious. Get off of your ass and go to a game.As time goes by I agree with this more and more. Unless you're a poster here, season ticket holder or follow SHU on twitter, you'd never know when games are being played. The only collateral material I ever get about SHU games comes directly from Ticketmaster. They need better outreach...buy email lists for eblasts, start a google ad word campaign, etc.
