I was at the game today and I really think there was somewhere between 1,500-2,000 actual people at the Rock. Might be time to play more out of conference games at Walsh. Pretty depressing to see that many empty seats.

We didn't sell out the walsh game. 5600 paid is the number, not who was there.

Did anyone expect this game to be a draw. SPC has a very limited fan base ; it's a Sunday afternoon game against a weak opponent in a low major conference; it's less then two weeks to Christmas with everything that entails ; the Jets are playing a home game that has playoff implications and SPC / SH is never going to be a big draw when they play.

I understand the Devils get first dibs but Sundays during the NFL season are terrible. Probably worse than a 9oclcok start during the week

If today's game was played against Monmouth with its early successes against name teams and all the media attention it has attracted you'd see much better attendance . You can certainly schedule the local teams but the more consistently successful ones which could improve attendance and I'd like to see us schedule some of the old BE teams like Cinncinatti , BC , WVA or Pitt to name a few.

The problem with the ex-BE teams is that we were never good when they were around so there is really no nostalgic incentive or attendance draw. For that, they want to schedule Nova, Gtown, Marquette or St. John's (not that they were good but a name draw).

This.

After the split some of the power ex BigEast teams literally went on record saying they have no interest in scheduling us, but will continue to keep St. John's Georgetown and nova on their schedules.

Scheduling is not as easy as it seems. The way we wouldn't give Monmouth a true home and home; Syracuse, Uconn, etc. wont give The Hall a home and home.

Of course I'm expected to say this so I'm sure it will induce eyerolls, but it's true: The biggest reason no one was at the game is b/c we've been really bad for a really long time, and last season's disaster zapped the fanbase. People are staying away completely like me, or they are picking and choosing their games more than ever. If we show we're consistently good, people will come.

Thanks again Willard!

Monmouth had 4,000 people for there game today vs. Wagner. Wagner isn't exactly a college hoops powerhouse.

If Seton Hall doesn't get at least 8,000 (actual people) vs. Wichita well then I would be worried about attendance for the BE season.

Saturday morning... we'll have a pretty full house

SOLO,
Solo, you do not stay away completely you are still on this board!

Agreed. And Monmouth has ignored their team for years. They built a beautiful new arena on campus and seats are always available. Glad they are having some success.

There are many seats available on Ticketmaster for game on Saturday. Unless there is a massive walk up this game doesnt seem to have much buzz. I think it's very telling that there are that many seats available. Wichita is best non conference home game in years.

I agree that Cinci, Pitt, and WVU may not want to play us. However, I think there is a middle ground between low majors (Monmouth, FDU, NJIT, St. Peters, Troy) and the now ACC Big12 bound teams.

I feel like we would have a shot with scheduling teams in the mid-range such as: Iona, URI, Stony Brook, Princeton, Umass, William & Mary, ODU, Richmond, Memphis, even Temple. At least those types of games would improve our OOC from what it is now. We have to avoid 200+ teams. Maybe one or two at the beginning and then that should be it.

As this subject continues to come up I thought what teams coming to play us at the Rock would attract a large audience and if I was polled by SH to pick three teams for us to play who would they be. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be but here's the three I would pick in no particular order.

Gonzaga, intriguing program and just like the way they play.

Michigan State , love Izzo's teams and the style they play.

Cuse , the team you love to hate.
