Given the addition of USC, UCLA, Oregon and UW, our friends from down south will be proven prescient yet again. B10 will lock up MSG for its hoops tournament…..

If anything, they'll have to throw the western coast teams a bone to host it somewhere like LA or LV in a rotational schedule. That's not a terrible option, but it does add another cycle spot to hit, which actually reduces the amount of times they'd be looking to be in NYC.

There’s no one near NYC that would attract near enough interest to even warrant them consideration for MSG!

Fun fact about the status of transfers
I'd be interested to know how players who dropped from D-I to a lower level are classified in this count.

It's no secret that a number of players who hit the portal do so because they are walk-ons or end of the bench players looking to move down in order to play. I wouldn't be surprised if they are considered to "have not found a new home."

Likewise, although there's no way of knowing this, you wonder how many players enter the portal as a formality. There are some who have no real intention of continuing to play but want to keep their options open.

That's not meant to diminish the real issue that there are many players who don't have a seat at the table when the game of musical chairs is over. But there is a -- perhaps substantial -- portion of the sample size that can make those numbers seem worse than the reality.

I would assume if the player enrolls in a school (their former school, another D1 school, or a lower level school) they would not count as "not found a home". Players who transfer from JuCos are not listed as going to no school before they transfer.

Again, just my assumption. Could be completely off.

That assumes that the researcher went through every player in the portal and every roster across the college basketball landscape.

Bear in mind that players do not necessarily announce their next stop and not all schools announce when they bring in players (I can think of one that doesn't).

MSG told the Big10 (and the ACC) NO to hosting their tournament in MSG and when they asked to schedule it the week before, MSG made the Big10 get the ok from the BE to hold it there during mid major week. This was where the Gavitt games came from. Val gave the Big 10 the ok and got the Big10 coaches (who can care less about Dave Gavitt ) to say nice things about him before each Gavitt game.
So to think that becuase now that UCLA and USC are in the Big 10 that MSG will kick us out is ridiculous. But then again I could write a book on all the times RU fans predicted crazy things that never happened.

With UCONN, Pitino at SJU and Cooley at Gtown, on top of everything else, I do not see MSG wanting to "kick us out" anytime soon.

Not sure, but if you have access to the portal, all of the info may be there

RU fans predicted that the BE would be equivalent to the A10 by now. Instead we have 3 championships v zero. Likely 5 top 25 teams v 2.

yeah, its actually not even close...Big East has had MUCH more success than the Big in CBB.

Maybe they should finally change their name? "The BIG ZERO"!

then they can add limitless new members and not have to change their name.....
