The signing of Wilcher illustrates the multiple issues that we face in the foreseeable future going head to head with the Johnnies. (Brand perceptions. NIL, MSG bright lights) Wilcher "signs" with Pitino's crew even though there are six guards including Alleyne and Dingle (proven college dudes) already in place. The issue of PT never comes up in Jamiaca. (it will during the season - Ricky's biggest potential dilemma) Yet, we can't get a back-up point guard in South Orange. Wilcher said he wanted the "ball from day one in his hands." That's not going to happen. We can't get a proven power forward with a starting position 25+ minutes guaranteed. We've become an afterthought in the NYC region with Pitino on the scene. Maybe Pitino flames out and all of this becomes a moot point. Hoping Sha finds a way to get this team to overachieve this upcoming season. It's a long mountain to climb in a increasingly tougher Big East. We've owned St. John's for many years. They've owned the NY Post college hoops conversation the past three months. We have to trust that we're going to figure this out with Sha at the helm. It going to be an interesting season to say the least.
