Sorry, my mind is going to explode if I read anymore Covid opinions so I'll try to Change the topic. Now that the OOC is over, just wanted to bring up some interesting team stats. All rankings are out of all 358 D-1 teams.
Can we survive shooting sub 30% from 3?
Currently we rank 290th in 3pt% at 29.9. The good news is Kevin's teams are usually poor from 3 as we've shot 33% or lower the last 3 seasons. We usually make up for it in other ways.
But this year's team is also ranked an alarming 348th in Assist to FG rate. While this is an eye opening stat, we have shown some improvement and our passing has led to a lot of shooting fouls that equal points but not assists. Kadary is definitely getting more comfortable as a facilitator and if we start hitting more 3s our Assists will go up also.
With multiple good ballhandlers we have taken good care of the ball. We are 36th in Turnover %. We have also taken the ball aggressively to the hoop to draw fouls and are 46th in FT attempts per FG attempts. And our players have converted 75.1% from the line which is solid at 64th.
We have also been a solid offensive rebounding team at 104th and a strong defensive rebounding team at 20th.
The defense has been our strong point as we are 27th in overall defensive efficiency. Besides our strong rebounding, our calling card has been our tight man to man defense on the perimeter which has held teams to just 24.7% from 3 which is 4th in the Nation. Combined with a solid 2-pt FG% puts us at 11th in Overall Effective FG% allowed at 43%.
Which of these numbers do you see us maintaining during BE play? Will we continue to win shooting below 30% from 3?
