IW's ability to hit the trey could be the X factor to a great finish to the season. As noted in another thread, he had come out early in the St John's pre game to practice his shot, and it showed. His two dagger treys in the waning minutes of the first half righted the ship and he hit two more in the 2nd second half.

If he gets his 3 point shot going, with the way he can penetrate and dish, he will drive zone defenses crazy. KC already has his trey shot going and he's another penetrator. We may well have a Dynamic Duo unmatched in the country. Frank

I'm not much of a negative fan type, but their 3 point percentage has not been good. They are volume shooters from behind the arc, perhaps you could argue they convert in clutch situations, but for the most part there are far more misses than makes. To me, the ball finds the bottom of the net when they get momentum on their side, use the positive energy during runs, and let their teammates feed them. The forced and deliberate attempts don't go in. I love their instinct to want to immediately go tit-tat with other teams, but often times they dig a hole deeper than it needs to be with excess 3 pt shooting. I'd rather see IW15 slash to the paint HARD, go up strong, and draw contact. The spin moves, mid-air passes showcase his talent and all, but I think just using his strength and quickness will really see him through and make it much easier to kick out to teammates. Just my two cents.

Your the same guy that thought that St John's was a big test for the Pirates . I guess you got your answer . The Pirates beat up on the WORST TEAM in the BE in years and from that you conclude that IW and KC are a dynamic due UNMATCHED by any other team in the Country.

They aren't even close to the best twosome in their own conference let alone the country . I get that we ALL say crazy things about our own teams , hence the term fan(antical) , but WOW .

IW takes far too many 3PT shots, IMO. For the current pace to become effective he'd have to really improve the shooting percentage and I don't see any indication of that changing so suddenly like that. His career 3PT shooting percentage is just .327.

He's shooting .311 from 3 this seaon and 41% of his shots are 3's. If a team had that rate they'd be 8th in the country out of 351. He's taking about 6 per game and 19 alone over the past two. Jeez.

It'd be less of an issue if he was making those shots. But he's not and we're 20 games in.

Replace a lot of those shots with ball movement to other players or higher-percentage opportunities or getting to the line.

It took Carmelo Anthony most of his career to understand you win playing team ball no matter what your talents.

Now I watch him and it's like a light went on in his head.

Whitehead is still in the learning process. It takes time for most young players to see the entire picture.

IW has a long way to go. If he can stop trying to be THE only answer when we're behind he will get there sooner than later.
Let's hope for fast progress. If we don't make the dance, things could blow up for this program.

His two treys in the first half of the Johnnies game triggered an awakening of what had been a stagnant offense up to that point.

I think some posters get overly down on IW because he tends to get sloppy with the ball and at times makes bad decisions. Be that as it may, he is still the best thing that has happened to the Hall in many a moon, and without him we'd be another also ran.

I also prefaced my comments that as fans WE ALL make crazy comments regarding our own teams . Sorry if your feelings were hurt that was not my intention . If Fordham is as old as you suggest , I REALLY APPRECIATE HIS ENTHUSIASM FOR HIS TEAM , however , I still think it was a wild exaggeration . Oh by he way , GOOD WIN TONIGHT !!!
