BE POY - Haggerty

I'd say the Haggerty and I don't see him winning either. IW is solidly 2nd team BE at moment. He certainly could move up but it will take a run to the finals for him to really be in the POY discussion.

I understand rewarding winning so I assume Hart or Blueitt will win it but Hart isn't the most valuable player on his own team and X has so many weapons. I'd vote for IW or Bentil

Bluet will not be a factor. Hart, dunn, isaiah, Bentil imo. If Isaiah closes the season like he has been playing he will have a shot. No one I have seen is paying better than him now and no one played as good as dunn early. Hart is less spectacular but more consistant.

Doesn't work that way. The voting takes place at the end of the regular season.

Whitehead emerged too late to make a push for player of the year. Some people aren't even putting him in their first team as of yet. I do think he finishes first team.

I would go with bentil. Whitehead should be first team if he plays well over the final three games.

Rothstein said isaiah is playing the best ball in the league. Which is obviously the case if you are watching.

I agree he is playing among the best ball in the league.
Let me guess - one or 2 players on The Nova are ahead of him besides Bentil & maybe Dunn, who was ill vs SH & today (didn't start & got in at the 10 minute mark today)

Honestly the best player in the league this year was Bentil or Whitehead.

Dunn disappointed.

Hart isn't mvp on his own team.

Idk who else is considered.

With respect you could not be more wrong about Hart. Co-leader with Dunn for POY.

I would add Bentil but I'm not sure the coaches would agree with me.

Whitehead is the best player in the league right now but this is a season award.

If IW had started this great play maybe 2 or 3 games before he did, he would have a much better shot at BE POY, but its between Hart and Dunn.

Looking around the league, and maybe I missing someone, but I can't see how IW isn't on 1st BE. Only Hart and Dunn are ahead of him.

Also, Angel is a long shot to make 1st team BE but I think he has the number to be considered 2nd Team. Just as IW picked up his game, Angel has done the same, especially on the offensive end.

Dan, I believe you were the 1 who said Ochefu is their most important player. Hart is having a great year but take him off Nova and they are still a top 25 team. Take Arch or Ochefu off Nova and they are not a tournament team.

I love defense over offense. Always have. Ochefu is the force that we don't have. He's a game changer and because Nova is small he is critical for them.

But that said he is not in the discussion for POY. Neither is Arcidiacono. They're very important cogs for Nova but neither is as good as Hart. Just as important, but not as good.

IW's body of work lately is fantastic. This award, I believe, is focused on the Big East season. You have to look at the stats from the season in order to see who the BE POY is. Remember coaches vote on this and if a particular player did a number on their team twice that is who they are going to look at for this award.

Of the players mentioned this is what I see:

Whitehed 2nd score, 49th rebound, 3rd assts, 9th blocks, 15th steals, 14th 3-pt, 15th f throw, 49th fg
Bentil 1st score, 5th rebound, 56th assists, 13th blocks, 39th steals, 39th 3-pt, 10th f throw, 23rd fg
Dunn 5th score, 19th rebound, 2nd assists, 20th blocks, 1st steals, 22nd 3-pt, 31st f throw, 29th fg
Hart 9th score, 6th rebound, 30th assists, 48th blocks, 12th steals, 27th 3-pt, 21st f throw, 11th fg

If you look at the current stats for the BE Isaiahis ranked in the top 20 in six of the eight major stat categories. Dunn is the next closest with 5.

I think Hart finishes ahead of whitehead in player of the year voting.

I would probably have hart and whitehead as my top two. I would put summer up there with them but the frosh isn't going to get that type of respect.

The problem with whitehead and olayer of the year voting is that until February you weren't finding many people putting him on their first team all conference. He emerged too late to really be the guy to win, even if he deserves it.

And regarding Bentil and dunn, i get that they are both talented and put up stats, but that team is so brutal to watch I would not vote for either of those guys first team. And if I hd to chose one, it would be bentil. Dunn has been a huge disappointment this yr. legendary disappointment. Maybe he makes up for it in the tourney.

I'm not this absurd nova homer that you seem to think I am, Vegas pj. And the boogie man does not live in your closet.

Why Hart and not Blueitt? Identical stats. Hart avgs 1 more reb, Blueitt 1 more assist.

Bluiett is right there in the conversation.

Funny thing about bluiett is I've watched almost all if Xavier's games and rarely came away thinking he was the player of the game.

This shoudo secure whitehead's spot in the first team and get him in the conversation for player if the year.

I still think his campaign started too late, although I think he deserves serious consideration.

If Monmouth makes the NCAAs, I think Robinson is going to take the Haggerty unfortunately.

IW played poorly today and still finished with 22. Wow

Whitehead started the game poorly. But he is real solid in the final quarter of games. He knocks down free throws, doesn't turn it over.

He does need to play more consistently in control though. Some of his highlight plays are unnecessary.
