Can’t have this kind of stuff with an improved NIL. Losses to Fordham, Hofstra, and 0-8 Monmouth? Having amongst the worst offensive numbers in the country? This is pathetic and embarrassing. Sha may be a good coach, but he’a proving to be a disaster in roster building.

Thankfully the transfer rule kept us from losing some players before last year and we had Richmond in the program.

A GM, a NIL guru, what’s next a salary cap guy? It’s all pointless. Just a bunch of empty suit positions that will end up costing the school millions in the inevitable post termination severance packages.

You know who’s supposed to build a roster? The very nicely paid head coach and his endless cronies of assistants….

Sha won’t even hire someone to coach offense, zero chance he hires someone to manage his roster. For better or worse things will be done his way until the bitter end.

Well they’ve proven they cannot. We’re losing buy games and these other rosters look more talented. We barely break 50 points. It’s the least skilled team I’ve ever seen at Seton Hall. Who made these decisions and where did our money go?

I’m a hire a GM guy because Sha has proven he’s 0/3 on completing rosters, but have to acknowledge that the GM didn’t work at NOVA. Point being, guys don’t want to play for Neptune and it’s become a similar story with Sha

It is absolutely stunning to me that we have a coach who's so stubborn when it comes to defense, yet has zero idea how to run an offense. This is a guy who played point guard for four years at this level too! His offense was a disaster at St. Peter's, except for three fluke games in the tournament that one year. Shame on us for expecting any better. We knew what we were getting and welcomed it with open arms.

The additional confounding part is that he/they can draw up effective set plays. It's just they only run them three times a game

He has comprised a roster that could not beat Fordham or Monmouth at home and lost to Hofstra.

Thank God we shot 17/34 from 3 in the two wins in Charleston we won by 5 total or we’d be 2-6.

What surprises me is he chose to spend a better budget this year - by about $1M - on this roster. I can’t even get into sets when he doesn’t even have a rotation or a guard who can break down a defense. It’s incredible bad it is. Look at the guards from Fordham, Hofstra, and Monmouth; they kicked our asses in.

He’s developing a reputation as a coach you don’t want to play for. That’s part of the problem. Very few coaches are screaming at their players like Sha does.

The screaming at players coaches typically don't work out as well in the pros. College is now the pros.

"I can't compete in NIL with Seton Hall, even with Charleston in our league," Rice said. "There's guys on this (Seton Hall) team that make more than all my guys combined, I'm sure."
It’s simply a bad team assembled. The individual players aren’t good enough, the team has no roles or flow. Sha still has no feel for them either.

I bad loss? Ok. 2? Uhh 3!?!?!

I cannot believe we lost by 12 to 0-8 Monmouth.

Totally disagree, we have no chemistry and it takes time to build. We need to exercise patience, I bet by mid January they are playing much better. I saw this coming a year ago, teams with super low budgets will out perform teams spending a fortune simply because their guys will play 4 years at the same school. Teams with a larger number of returning players year after year will out perform teams who need to replace their entire team. Look around its happening everywhere. Sha has the right plan for Seton Hall most just cannot see the future.

Maybe I would agree with you if we had guys who could stay on their feet when they drive to the basket. It's comical, like watching 6 and 7 year olds playing (of course, that may be an insult to 6 and 7 year old basketball leagues).

We’re 8 games in. 25% of the season. We’re losing buy games to terrible teams repeatedly. We’re showing no improvement. We’re 357th in 2PT shooting. I mean c’mon.

We didn’t have a forward who could play with Valencia. Bashir makes our guards like JUCOs. And Monmouth was 0-8! Individual talent alone should win these buy games.

Sha chose to stick the roster this way instead of paying better players with less depth. It’s blowing up in his face.

Could be worst SHU team in 40 years.Unwatchable!
It will be extremely tough to get contributions with the product on court. Situation won’t get better unfortunately if it continues. Hoping we see better play but agree that today was horrible and unwatchable display.

I hear what you are saying, choices were made that look terrible now. When you are taking it on the chin it’s hard to see where this is going. I honestly believe and still do that this strategy will pay rewards later. Any other strategy and we are chasing our tail every single year. We do not have millions of dollars to work with and we need to think out of the box. I think what he’s doing is brilliant but will take time for which we as fans have none. Again I saw this coming sadly not renewing my season ticket after 40 years plus. Better times ahead Sha beats to his own drummer. Don’t under estimate this guy.

There is zero chance excuses for these 3 bad losses.

It’s all on Sha. It’s not NIL since those 3 loses were to teams has much less NIL.

The strategy of buying low and trying to coach them up is going to be how we live in large part because I think the budget is still just under $2M, so I agree with that in principle. But it already looks like we did too much of it with this roster. There's nobody that pops offensively. You need 1-2 alphas even if it costs you a bench.

If you have a low budget and try to build a bench, you could end up with a roster of not-good-enough players. That looks like what we did and with hope some of these guys who were highly touted in HS but bombed in their first stop would find themselves.

The bigger issue is, if it takes half a season - plus, for Sha to get players to develop/ buy in / whatever you want to call the plan…

The season is most likely over by the time they figure it out.

Last year was a great example. Even with a more talented core, they dug such a deep hole in the OOC that a really good BE season didn’t get the job done.

So if you told me Sha got to keep his core guys and develop them year after year and build towards a team that returns players for a 3rd or 4th season….I would be super excited.

Right now we are staring down the barrel of the season being over and having to roll the dice on NIL mid major talent or players that didn’t pan out based on their HS rankings.

People aren’t just upset about the losses, they are coming to the reality that this is a rinse and repeat situation with NIL / transfer portal.

Whether you want to blame Sha or the landscape of college basketball is up to you.

It's a brilliant strategy that will pay rewards and we'll get better but you didn't renew your season tickets after 40+ years. So you pretend to support the team with words but not with your time or money. You are useless.
