Eleven players from four BIG EAST teams were selected in the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft

NEW YORK - After 40 rounds and three days, 11 players from BIG EAST member schools were selected in the 2015 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. BIG EAST Champion St. John's led the way with six players picked up. Georgetown had three while Villanova and Xavier each had one player drafted.
The highest pick for a BIG EAST school went to the league's Player of the Year Nick Collins from Georgetown who was selected in the eighth round, 248th overall by the Oakland Athletics.
St. John's had four pitchers of its record-tying six draftees selected in rounds 13-16 as Cody Stashak went to the Minnesota Twins, Matt Clancy went to the Seattle Mariners, closer Thomas Hackimer was selected by the New York Mets and BIG EAST Pitcher of the Year Ryan McCormick was picked up by the Colorado Rockies.
Villanova's Max Almonte also went in the 16th round as a righty pitcher to the St. Louis Cardinals club.
In the 17th round, St. John's catcher Tyler Sanchez was picked by the Texas Rangers.
Two BIG EAST players were picked up in round 27 with lefty pitcher Alex Katz from St. John's and righty hurler Jacob Bodner from Xavier. Katz went to the Chicago White Sox, while Bodner was picked up by the Kansas City Royals.
Georgetown had two more round out the draftees for the BIG EAST with Curtiss Pomeroy picked up in round 28 by the Atlanta Braves and first baseman AC Carter selected in the final round by the Colorado Rockies.
