I struggled with 2 and 3 and actually think that Jordan has done the better job. But for now you have to give it to Mack as he has his team high (too high IMO) in the national rankings.

Let's see if that changes tonight.

Only change I would make is that I would have Cooley at 5 and Willard at 6. I think Cooley has his team just about where they were expected to be and in the Pre-Season Big East Coaches Poll SH was picked to finish second behind Nova and ahead of Xavier while PC was picked fourth . Kevin , IMO, does not have his team playing up to expectations and that leads me to put him at 6.

That's fair although I think the Hall has played better overall than Providence. But since they lost their big man pre-season a case could be made for Cooley over Willard.

no argument from me on Dan's ranking. Although one could argue for moving Willard down into bottom half. I think the eggs we laid on the road against Marquette and Creighton were unacceptable for the veteran team that we are. We're slightly underachieving to date IMO.

It’s time for this team to start playing the way it’s capable and show some consistency. If we aren’t hungry to go out and destroy this Marquette Team who Embarassed us by 20 points than we aren’t the team many expected us to be.

I like Cooley too, but Willard has more wins against him in head to head match ups.

This board LOVES Ed Cooley!
I sure do.

Because of what I do I have been given the chance to talk and listen to every coach in the conference. From my personal viewpoint he and Wright would be far and away the coaches I would want to play for.

In Cooley's case I love him in the post game. He comes to the podium and dissects the game intelligently and without anger. He is always honest and doesn't give you coaches speak.

There is no question you can't ask him. But be prepared if your question doesn't hold water because he'll look you right in the eye, debate you, and then give you every chance to respond.

Cooley is also the only coach that will not leave the press conference until every reporter is finished asking questions. He always surveys the room at the end and says "fellows, any more questions?" Then he walks out.

Love his tough no nonsense approach. I can see why he recruits so well at a small school like Providence. He connects to people he talks to with his honesty and demeanor.

I would also add that Cooley has taken the Friars to four straight NCAA bids the first time that ever happened in PC history.

And well set up to do it another 4 years. Cooley is a good coach and although he’s made it to the tourney 4 years in a row he’s only won 1 game in total. That includes opening round losses as a 5-seed and a 6-seed.

Not saying this to disparage Cooley, just pointing out that the tournament can be a crapshoot depending on matchups, locations and what not.

They lost to North Carolina twice and one other time it was against Dayton where the game was played somewhere in OH where it was practically a home game for the Flyers. Its all about matchups and sometimes luck of the draw.

Wright by a mile. What a machine. Sometimes you have to award greatness. It's not always about a team that overachieved.

Even in the lone game Villanova lost at Butler - when the Bulldogs were raining down 3's - they cut it down to about 6 points in the final minutes after being down 20+.
