Many said that previously with Mack and Xavier. One game can change the standings drastically so as far as I am concerned the race to date is more than just 2 coaches.

Really impressed with what Cooley has done this year. Did not think they would be good.

Cooley - has done a great job at PC turning them into a top tier team.

Mack - Xavier just keeps succeeding no matter who coach's them.

Mack - X is 5-1 vs RPI top 50. That's just awesome.
Cooley - Fantastic job, but his 2-1 vs RPI top 50, leaves him second behind Mack IMO.

What the hell, I'll say Willard based on results to date and the fact that we're a relatively young team still. Mack is 1a or 1b depending on how you look at it.

The Big East COY this year could surprise, a loss here; an injury there and dare I say, we could see an upset in the choice

Good point. As I see it.

Expectations.

Xavier was expected to be an elite team in the league. Maybe not 13-1 elite. But elite nevertheless.

The same cannot be said of Providence. Projections had them middle of the pack and certainly not the highest ranked team in the Big East in the just released AP rankings.

Thus in my opinion Cooley over Mack so far with Willard, Holtmann and Wright lurking.
