Looking like Xavier will be our only team in the sweet 16... lucky they drew Georgia St too. Not good.

Butler still Live. Interesting that the so-called Catholic seven have all bitten the dust.

Athlete, do you ever have any thing positive to say about anything? How about congrats to X for making sweet 16?

Dumb. Georgia St beat Baylor without Ryan Harrow and he played today vs Xavier, good win.

Fraud? #2 rpi and more top 50 and top 100 wins than any conference. Please with the self loathing.

Listen, everyone knows its about going deep in the tournament. Bottom line. Big 12 is a fraud too with their depth (but theyll get some teams deep).

We needed a stronger showing especially from our #1.

Gotta hope Butler can come back. 1/16 isnt good.

Big East teams are too small across the front line. Look at the conference's POY candidates. Not a single inside player. Shrimp ball may work when the teams are playing each other, but not when facing teams with bigger, more athletic players in the Big Dance.

Yes they are, when compared to the front-line players in the big-boy conferences. Abu and Freeman ate them for lunch today. Late in the game they flashed a points-in-the-paint stat: NC State 32, Villanova 12. Normally NC State would have relied on the three-ball a little more. Today the didn't need it. They just took Villanova's shrimp-ballers to the hoop.

Ochefu was WORSE than chopped liver tonight. single handedly lost them the game on both ends of the floor.

Was Georgetown too small? Butler is having no issues on the boards. Xavier has good size as does Prov.

I agree with JimSouls.
The BE frontcourts are inferior, in general.
This does not show up when one BE team plays another BE team.
But in interconference play, this becomes more apparent.
This may be because of the historical emphasis on guards in the BE.
Also, BE teams have typically used their bigs for rebounding and defense.
But the other conferences use their bigs for more offensive production and encourage versatility.

Villanova was overrated for much of the season.
Villanova had some big early season wins in interconference play, with the help of alot of luck.
Pinkston is really a PF with limited height and athletic ability.
This only works in a conference like the BE where there is limited talent at the same PF position.
Arciadano has been very overrated since arriving on campus.
It was probably a highly predictive omen regarding Villanova's quality, that SHU beat VU without Isaiah Whitehead.

Another common denominator is that the BE coaches have been outcoached in the trournament.
The BE used to have the best coaches.
It appears that the coaching talent margin in favor of the BE has also dissipated.
BE coaches may be stuck in the ancient style of the BE from 10 or 15 years ago.
Coaches in other conferences have changed with the times.
The BE teams need to hire some new blood with exciting visions and goals.
The big name BE teams need to go after Shaka Smart and Dayton's coach.
I think that getting Brian Gregory from Ga. Tech would also be a good move for the middle of the road BE teams.

Georgetown had a big man in the middle, but he's not exactly an enforcer on defense. Utah got any shot they wanted in that game. One reason was the edge in coaching. Another was that the Hoyas were soft on defense after playing against itty-bitty Big East teams since January. They couldn't get a stop. It's no coincidence that they lost three times to Xavier, the team with the most size in the conference. It was a sham that Georgetown was a four-seed while the team that owned them was a six.

"big boy conferences" please

The Big East is strong. Without the football costs, the BE has the financial backing to support growth, without having to carry the cost of football plus. We can and will match the "big boy conferences" in the programs and sports that are part of the BE. The structure is there to do so. Just look at the building going on at Butler's sports buildings and SETON HALL'S for examples. The BE is moving forward. Move on from feeling bad for yourself and move forward with a strong leauge that we are a part of. Go Big East! Go Xaiver! And always GO HALL!!!!!

Knock down open shots at a good % and you win most games. In the NCAA Tournament even the best shooting teams can have a really bad shooting game on any given day. BE and Seton Hall will be fine in the future.

Seems as if really good Villanova teams don't do well in the tournament.

Very tough NCAA Tournament for the BigEast. It started well, but took a turn with the SJU and Providence games. I didn't get to watch the games where BigEast teams lost and the Nova loss was the most surprising.

The conference was better this year and they needed a good showing in the tournament. SHU and DePaul are really the problem children at the moment. All of the other teams are solid with promising outlooks for next year.

As the coaches are replaced it is imperative that top notch people are brought in. The small schools must make that financial
commitment if they want to play with the big boys in the power conferences. There is no in between here. Butler kind of lucked out with their situation, but that's not the norm.

The BigEast needs more talent in order to have more success in the tournament. We have good players, but not so many great ones. GTown and Nova do get quality recruits, but are stuck in neutral when it comes to the NCAA Tournament.

Seton Hall needs to make a decision real soon one way or another. DePaul is taking action, a very important step along
with their new arena.

The BigEast is not a fraud, but there is much work to be done.

Bad jobs by Nova and Providence who should have been better. Great effort by Butler who gave a very good Notre Dame team everything they could handle. I'm not surprised St. John's lost that early. Georgetown was very inconsistent this year and they got exposed.

Go Xavier!

Big East mens basketball is still very strong. Is it the 2nd best conference? Probably not but still a high major.

Outside of mens soccer as well, the rest of BE sports though are mid-major.

Funny that the team that's gone the farthest finished 6th of 10.

unfortunately they path to the elite 8 is extremely difficult. Zona probably should have been a 1 seed over Nova.

The players are talented but smaller in the big east.
