Big Government

I guess I will take the sarcastic bait (lol).

What are you thanking them for? FEMA I suppose. Let's not thank anyone until we can see what is actually done to help NJ and how Christie and FEMA and the government act. We have a very long way to go but let's hope they have learned from the past missteps. I for one hope the response continues to be good and do believe there is an important role for FEMA. But let's wait before we say "mission accomplished". This was a huge storm and there are many, many needs and we are only at the first stage. If they do a good job I will be the first to congratulate them but let's wait a few months to see where things are and how they respond.

And don't forget the biggest response will come from local authorities and the state. FEMA plays an important role but its far from the majority of the response. If all parties work together we can rebuild NJ. Let's root them all on...

And let us not forget that Romney believes it's the states and local governments responsibility to absorb the cost of such devastation.

It absolutely should be. They are in a much better position to know what works for their local communities than a federal bureaucrat would know. (Need help from the federal government because your power is out? They tell you to go on the Internet for information, LOL!!!)

Makes no sense to take money from the states, launder it through DC, the feds keep their taste, then funnel it back to the states with strings attached.

It's exactly how the federal government screwed up the American educational system.

It is necessary to keep FEMA fully funded. FEMA is like an insurance policy. It spreads the risk. In cases of extreme disaster a single state can not afford the cost of reconstruction but with FEMA you spread the risk across all 50 states. Now if you want to call that socialistic so be it because it is what is necessary in situations like this.

So you think this is about power being out? Really? When I was rescued from my home today after 5days of feeling sorry for myself because part of my home had been destroyed, I came to my senses quickly when I saw the devastation and destruction that had been brought down on my home state of New Jersey. It was only then that I cried for the thousands that had lost their entire homes or lives. Let no one call this a power outage, because that is just plain ignorant.

Glad to hear you are OK and were rescued. Hopefully you will be able to rebuild and get the help you need.

Agree, it really hit home this time, and should deepen our empathy for the victims of future, similar tragedies. I'm sorry to hear that you were hit so hard, Muggsy.
