At Georgetown (8-7, 1-3, KP #186) tomorrow night, at Butler (10-5, 1-3, KP #65) Saturday.

At 10-5, 3-1 would be awesome to make this a “metrics week” and somehow get out to 5-1 in the league. Wow. Idk, nothing is easy on the road. We’ll see.

Last year Sha’s team was very good against teams beneath them with that defense (only 1 loss at BET) and hoping same holds this year.

Have to set the tone with Defense against Georgetown.
I would say, “We’ll know early…” but the team never comes out well early, LOL. The fact that we’ve started 3-1 in the BE with the quality wins we have is even more surprising when you consider we were down 9-10 points early in each game.

But I agree, need to suffocate them and keep the foot down. This is a game where we really need to help our metrics. Nothing is easy on the road, but this is another good opportunity in a different way for our profile. Saturday too, but that’s going to be a tougher opponent/environment, IMO.

I mentioned in another thread that it feels like the defensive intensity in the first 10 minutes is not as high. Maybe to avoid early foul trouble from the starters….maybe to save some juice to be more physical as the game goes on. Even at Xavier they fell behind but defended their way back in only to have that brutal two minute stretch.

I think there may be something to that. As players you need to adjust to how officials are going to call a game and it probably helps not to come out too strong, so to speak, and encourage the refs to blow the whistle.

If you gradually increase the level of physicality, you may be able to get more leeway in calls as the game goes on.

Keep the momentum going. Getting on the radar on many bracket projections. Lots of basketball to play. Hopefully the team continues to gel. Even lunardi has us in the conversation.

I think the message of Sha has been heard and understood and we are gonna come out smoking tonight!

I don't think so, but I really hope so. I will be thrilled if they come out and hammer GT, but I'm very fearful they will not.

This is such a huge game. A loss tonight kills all the momentum they've worked hard to achieve over the last couple weeks, not to mention leaving a season-long black mark on the tournament resume.

Losing to Butler on the road wouldn't be too bad, unless they lose tonight and compound that loss on Saturday.

It's very simple: Do not lose tonight.
This.

Losing to Butler in and of itself isn't a major issue. Their NET is 63 so it's a Q1 loss. You'd prefer a Q1 win of course but the loss doesn't hurt that much.

Georgetown is a completely different story. Their NET is 212, one of the five worst among P6 programs. It's a Q4 loss and from a metrics standpoint undoes much of the work of the last three wins.

I have to expand. I did not think the smoking would only last for 10 minutes lol. Regardless, one down.

Not sure the Pirates are an exceptional team. But exceptional teams win this game.

We can't look at it as a money in the bank game. Down the road we're going to probably lose a game or two that's not expected. Beating Butler will give us a cushion.

That is a good point. We all know we are not going 10-0 at home. My hope is that we sweep DePaul, Gtown and Providence and split with everyone else. Therefore, if you spit the bit at home, you need to pick up another road win (which this team is capable of doing).

I can't see us winning at Creighton, Marquette or UConn (and Xavier). We have won at Gtown and Providence (and need to win at DePaul). Therefore, we have 3 other road games to pick up a win (Butler, St John's and Nova). Winning at Butler will give us the cushion you mention. My concern is it is just a lot to ask (5-1 start). I would have bet every dollar I had along with all my friends and family members we were not starting 5-1.

And if you look at the next five games, they can give it all back. I don't think they look ahead to SJU going into Butler, but these are kids. Next five are @Butler, SJU, Creighton, Providence and @Marquette. Two revenge games.....SJU is going to be a rock fight and Creighton, well is Creighton. Butler would give a bit of a cushion.

Butler is a very good team. A win would be a Q1 road game, and a great way to start our home stand, which will be tough beginning with St. John's next Tuesday. Johnnie's might be the hottest team in the BE. Just beat Nova on the road and held off Providence at home.

Any chance of opening up a few upper sections. Should be a great atmosphere. classes start on the 17th. Students will be on campus on the 16th. Sounds like the makings of ruckus student section.

I truly believe that the bulk of work will and has to be done at home. We just need wins. Eight games left at home. Hoping to go 6-2 which I feel is not impossible. Should they beat Butler which I don’t expect at the moment, then the team could finish in the top 5 of the conference. Winning at GTown was vital and might have prevented a big losing streak.

this team could easily go 0-5 in the next 2 weeks even if they play decently. i would hate that but at least sha wouldnt blame the schedule

but wouldnt it be nice if butler has the patent let down game game at home?? sign me up

zero chance they go 0-5 and Sha complained about the schedule at least twice last year.

It’s my seton hall email name you moron..the schedule comment was just another attempt by you to take a low shot at Willard

Also your schtick about bashing the school but also sort of singing Sha praises because you hated Willard is old…just get lost the board would be better without you.

I’ve directed 3 student athletes to SHU…what have you done besides post about how our school should just quit because of NIL OR going after Dawes literal intelligence because you don’t like how he plays the game or basketball
