Lots of businesses could start up just outside the proposed area to provide jobs. Not sure it would work but worth a shot. Better than doing nothing. Sounds a little like a slave camp. I often think if we directed 15-20 billion to this idea instead of Ukraine war we could build several entire trailer Park cities. 1.7 Trillion could end homelessness worldwide. Better politically to wave carrots in front of the poor for votes. No tax dollars from homeless so I doubt anything will happen unless it’s funded by regular humans and not politicians.

Well, it may work for San Diego because it has vacant federal land near by. That’s not the case with other major cities. Also, who will find the workers, the cooks, the maintenance, and what about police presence at this ranch? Who pays for that?

Nice idea very scant on the details.

Probably one of the best ideas I’ve seen. Using federal land to solve a problem. Think about using some of the military bases that have been closed especially in the metropolitan area. Unfortunately the ACLU will never support this idea.

What about the drag police now having to deal with all of these issues in our cities. Funding can be redirected. We also have a lot of nonprofits that provide food pantries and support to homeless that once again can redirect their efforts more efficient way to these camps. Many hospitals, send physicians into homeless encampments. Not only would you treat those in need of help more efficiently but the safety of healthcare workers would be protected.

Maybe major corporations that make believe they are serious about social justice issues can help fund it. Microsoft in Seattle? Apple in San Francisco? Maybe employees can be encouraged to volunteer at camps?

College campuses could also work, meal plans already in place, campus police, shared dorm rooms with showers, maybe build separate dorm rooms to start. 5% of every campus in America dedicated to homelessness. College professor's could help manage and run the program. Great educational tool to teach inclusion.
