Fresno State transfer Braeden Anderson expected to visit Seton Hall next week, source told ESPN. Anderson can play immediately. Has 2 years.

FYI, long list of targets on the Trove today. Info not gleaned just from twitter pages.

But is Anderson the only big man that we are looking at or have a legitimate shot at to get in here this year?

Going to need much, much better than Braedon Anderson to compete next year. Sounds like a good guy who knows what he wants out of life, just not much of a basketball player.

If you're going to go the graduate eligible route, which I'm a fan of, you're looking for a highly experienced player not one in his 3 years at Fresno only played in a total of 27 games. Anderson missed the entire 2013/2014 season due to a very serious neck injury suffered in a car accident. This past season he averaged 1 PPG and 1.8 RPG. In 17 games

Did we ever offer Kasongo at all? I know the Hall was interested in him but sounds like Howland is recruiting hard at Miss State right now and there are other power 5 schools interested too.

They could be doing better things with their time and the schools money.

Yes

I know their called highlights( for a reason) but he looked athletic, and had some good moves and shoots well.

100%

I am not saying he is a star, but I can def see a kid who can help us.

15-20 min reasonable contributor.

Was terrible in 10 mins a game for Fresno State but he's going to be a contributor in 15-20 minutes at Seton Hall?? Seems very questionable.

SPK did not like us landing Gene Teague? He had a very solid two yrs for us and put up very good pts and reb #'s, showed very good improvement during his time at Seton Hall. Heard he is still playing good as a professional.

Fing86- First, I am ever the optimist in my life. But have you ever not liked anything Seton Hall did?

Your allegiance is great but sometimes it comes across as the polar opposite of reality. Not being harsh but your words come across to me sometimes the same as those from those detractors you complain about, those who question and put down every move the program/coach/admin make.

Just my two cents.

Only watched about half but he does look athletic. That video might contain every single field goal he made the last two years.

His freshman year he averaged 4 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1 block in 18 minutes. Not terrible. Not sure what happened last year.

Any reason he only played 10 games freshman year and 17 last year? His minutes/ game (18 and 11) seem high for someone playing in less than half the games. Did he have injuries both years?

I never saw this kid play but we can't judge strictly #s at their old school. Gibbs didn't exactly light it up in Texas. I'm sure we would take a player like him again if given the opportunity.

I liked Gene too, but how many NCAA's did we make with Gene on the team?

As Good as Teague was on offense, he was just as bad on defense, hence I never thought he was overall very good. If you really want to compete in the Big East (as opposed to just blowing smoke up everybody's ass), you need better than Teague or Anderson.

Hence the reason Seton Hall has been a bottom feeder in the Big East.

Agree with SPK here. SHUMatt, you bring up a valid point regarding Gibbs, but Gibbs was on a talented Texas team in a much better conference. SPK is right these our the type of recruits that make us a bottom feeder in the Big East. Talent attracts talent, and it is very worrisome that the Staff couldn't capitalize on that. I feel bad for Shaheen, I hear he is a bulldog when it comes to recruiting but Willard can't get the kids signature on the dotted line. I do like taking a chance on Myles Carter signing because of the pedigree, but the troubling sign is the staff didn't capitalize on the buzz from the last class. Coach Willard lacks the passion that Coach Bozella has for his program.

Just once I'd like to hear my good buddy SPK say he was wrong lol

Teague was nice player who if we have a full roster could have been utilized better.

I don't think Anderson is a stiff and I think he might actually be able to contribute, unlike the bench bigs last year.

From the videos, I like his footwork a lot.

But who really knows unless we see more of him.

Didn't realize that Anderson originally committed to DePaul but was released from his LOI . He then signed with Kansas but was deemed a partial qualifier and was not admitted by Kansas and then wound up at Fresno. Also there was legitimate concern that he wouldn't be able to play college BB after a car accident left him with a very serious neck injury and it's unclear if the injury has effected his results on the court to date.

I saw him play a couple of times this year on tv and in person versus UC Irvine and he was barely used. I was looking forward to swing him play since I was familiar with his recruiting history. In order to take him, I would think there must be a reason why Willard would think he could perform at Seton Hall and not at Fresno State. Was he not completely healthy? Anyway, my hunch is we should look in a different direction.

We continue to chase after ;lower level talent.

This program is rag tag and the results prove this. We cast about without a plan.

The model for how to reload is Tony B .

Nice try Superfan. Tony B had 3 grad. students on his roster. Hardly a model to reload.

Remember the womens basketball Big East went from a very high major to a very low mid-major/low major since Tony B took over. He's still done a terrific job but don't lose sight of the huge reduction in difficulty of the conference.

You do recognize that the way to build a program has changed in that the pool of talent to recruit from has put transfers on an equal footing with recruiting HS and JUCO players and represents the opportunity to add experienced talent who can contribute immediately. The cream of the crop so to speak is the graduate senior who becomes immediately eligible and can fill an immediate need with little need to develop that player. The fact that Tony had three graduate players on his rosters points to him using every resource available to him to rebuild an abysmal program and it did what it was intended to do , significantly improve the program and I applaud him for doing so.

I applaud him too but players like Daisha Simmons don't come around every year. Next year should be interesting.

You're right that players like Daisha don't come around every year but there are players who do have considerable talent who are out there every year and recruiting the transfer/ graduate senior pool should be part of the recruiting footprint both the men's and women's program utilize.

Daisha Simmons does not happen every year, but dont be shocked to see Tony bring in another very high caliber player the same way this upcoming season....
