Bryce Aiken List

Bryce Aiken has cut his list to six schools.

The 5-foot-11 point guard from Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick is down to Miami, USC, Harvard, Michigan, Illinois and Seton Hall.

He has official visits set for Harvard Sept. 9-11 and Miami Sept. 23-25. Aiken said he plans to take other officials.

In a recent interview he broke down several schools on his list:

On Harvard: “I was just talking to Coach [Tommy] Amaker and Coach E [Brian Eskildsen] right before we came in here, so we always stay in touch, talk about basketball, how they see me fitting into their system, how they want to put the ball in my hands from Day 1, so that’s definitely interesting to me.”

On Miami: “Coach [Jim] Larranaga and coach Chris Caputo, they want to see me fit into their system and they want to get me down there for an official visit.”

Aiken said he hopes to decide sometime in the fall “before the high school season.”

I can see Aiken going to Harvard, starting PG as a Frosh with a very high chance on going dancing for 4 years.

Aiken is the only shot we have at a top recruit because he just may want to stay home and play. Let's hope that is the case.

Would you guys really want Amaker back?

Question is who can Seton Hall realistically attract when compared against Amaker? When you start to think of the coaches that are real possibilities or the lack of real coaching candidates, Amaker cannot be discounted. The laughable thing is that Amaker probably would have no interest in Seton Hall.

yes, absolutely. he's become attractive to recruits again, has gone to the tourney and won a few years now, and would elevate the image of the program. Sure he'd be using us as stepping stone again, but beggars can't be choosers. Would I prefer other coaches over him? Of course. But I don't know who actually will be interested in our school next spring when KW is finally (hopefully) fired, so in a vacuum, compared to the worthless sack that "coaches" our team now...yes, I would take Amaker in a heartbeat.

Great news that we made local St Pat's star Bryce Aiken's final 6 list. Would be excellent if Bryce decided to stay home and picked the Seton Hall Pirates.

Bryce Aiken is not a top recruit. He's a strong HS player, but I don't see his game translating to high level college hoops. Not his fault. He's just too small, and doesn't have the Calvin Murphy type crazy DNA to make up for it.

Wasn't Andre Barrett also TOO SMALL?

I don't buy that, what he lacks in stature he makes up for in smarts. He's no Andre Barrett but he is pretty good.

Amaker had no interest in Seton Hall back in 2001 either.

If I am reading this correctly the end result is that either way KW is going to be the death of you.
I honestly think hes a good reason for my rapidly depleting hairline. Realistically, he could just be so self conscious of his bald head hes trying to take everyone down with him. Its working Kevin!! Stop!!

Nothing wrong with a guard who can outsmart and take his opponent to school.

Muggsy Bogues part Deux? (He was a SH target too).
Vegas pj- You have no clue about this. Bryce Aiken is a very good PG. I have seen him play many times and the best way to describe him is that he makes the players around him better. Hopefully your ignorance on this matter is just not having seen the young man play.

BayonneRay I always enjoy your posts because you post facts and the truth.

HELLO! I agree with you. Muggy was a very good college player (a SH recruit), a lot shorter than Dre, who even made the NBA despite his lack of size. Heart and talent trumped size. Guess you didn't understand my reference to part Deux (Second chance at another Muggsy) or maybe who Muggsy is. I know my amigo SnakeTom knows. I would have no problem having him (Bryce) at SH and have said so.

Do I think it will happen? Doubtful due to Limbo time which will be detrimental to SH recruiting.
PS - I actually have seen him play. Oops. As usual, Finj86 gets it wrong again. Double Oops.

I would gladly take another Muggsy Bogues or Andre Barrett. I don't know if Bryce Aiken will be just as good but from what I've seen of him he could be a very good player and possibly as good as the other "deux". He would look very good in Pirate Blue.

What about Bryce Cotton, maybe a hair taller but same deal. More relevant in terms of timing.
