I recently re watched St. John's and Villanova games. Carneseca Arena and "DuPont" Arena really look like high school gyms. I know, some will say home court etc and on campus arenas, but that doesn't change how they look. The big east was built on large arenas.

I especially agree on Carneseca Arena. SJU is so important to the league being in the media capital of the world watching them play in that PIT on TV is embarrassing.

Hopefully as they get better we'll see most if not all their Big East games at MSG.

Shocked nova had Xu in the lodge. Alumi is small but a fun place when it is cooking. Never been at the other

I've been to both arenas. Bad memories in both. I think Carnesecca is tantamount to a high school gym. I have no problem with "Dupont " (now called The Pavilion). I understand that Nova is upgrading The Pavilion somewhat. Fank

Nova has zoning board problems that will prohibit them from building a completely new arena. I don't know about St. John's but I would imagine they don't have much land to play with in Queens.

they can seat a certain amount of people that is what matters

We're playing St. John's at MSG this year on a Sunday afternoon. Looking forward to that one.

I was surprised that Nova played Xavier at the Pavilion, rather than at WFC. Xavier was top-10 -- did they not think they would get enough fans in the seats to make it worth their while?

The Wells Fargo was clear that day of Sixers or Flyers action. I don't know if there was a concert, but on December 31, I doubt it. Maybe they thought it wouldn't sell well on New Years Eve? Maybe they wanted to have the opener against a very good team in the friendly confines of the Ski Lodge?

I mentioned that last week with Xavier at the ski lodge. Perhaps scheduling with the 76ers/Flyers come in to play, but they're playing St. John's at the WFC later in the season. Some of who they decide to play at the WFC might not be forward-looking - yeah the St John's game there a couple years ago was fantastic, and SJU was good last year, but everyone knew they'd stink this year.

Is it an issue with using that venue for the NCAA tourney & Nova not wanting to go over their max # of games there?
Yes. Villanova is playing three home games at the Wells Fargo Center this year. LaSalle is the host for the Sweet 16/Elite 8 games there this season. Villanova will be eligible to play there if they get placed in that region.

It's not as though we can switch back and forth on a whim...these times are scheduled months and months in advance. Most people thought X would be good, but not top 10 good, hence, the main reason why we scheduled who we did at WFC (G'Town, SJU, Providence) was due to a rivalry game and the fact we've only played G'Town at the Pavilion 2-3 times (G'Town) playing at MSG, sort of a you scratch my back, i'll scratch yours (SJU) and Kris Dunn (Providence).

Would also be tough to get 18k on December 31st, especially with students not on campus.

If the Big East is as good next year as it is this year and no tourney games in Philly, we will likely see UVA, GTown, SJU, potentially Gavit Games, and possibly SHU/Creighton as I think both those teams will be loaded next year. X a possibility as well.

Good post. It amazes me how angry people get at where our opponents play their games. If SHU had an intimate place on campus large enough to meet the minimum, I'd be in favor of playing every game there.
