Carino: 5 thoughts, 5 quotes from Seton Hall-Dartmouth

"""Angel Delgado was very quiet. The reigning Big East Rookie of the Year posted 7 points and 9 boards but committed 5 turnovers, had no offensive rebounds and never asserted his will on a much smaller team. This has been a theme since the preseason. The Hall needs him to be more involved as the competition ratchets up.""""

This has me worried.

I have seen Delgado 4 times so far this season and he has been a shadow of his 2014/15 self.

We really need the Angel of last year for the Hall to have any type of success.

I would agree Dan. They need to work on their defense but at least for one game Ish and Nzei look like they can give us what we need at the four. Gordon and Khadeen look to be BE quality. Desi and Singh a nice combo at the three...none of them though are in the top third in talent in the BE at their positions. Problem is that for this team, to succeed Whitehead and Delgado need to be dominant players. Right now it looks like Isaiah and a bunch of other middle of the pack guys.

Sanogo and Nzei were playing two steps quicker than Delgado. I hope Angel isn't resting on his laurels a bit. Not sure. He had some quiet moments during the season last year, too. Could be just the way he plays.

Offensively we're going to have to make a concerted effort to get him the ball. Without the 3PT shooters, we're a bit of a playground on offense - which can work because we do seem to share the ball - but have to create lanes to get it into him.

Angel is so out of shape, real disappointing. With his future at stake and thinking he leaves after this year and he is in this shape? Tough to figure. Hope he just took his eye off the prize but with our history, I am concerned.

If Angel wants it bad enough he'll do whatever it takes to put himself into a position to be selected in the NBA draft. If he doesn't then he has no one to blame but himself and what he has to understand is that how hard a player works is something every NBA scout looks for when they're doing their evaluations. Lazy players don't get drafted.

If some one told me, Angel would be playing like he is, I would have said you're crazy. Last year you could see his dedication and will to win. It seems to me that there is a underlying reason for his play to date.

Yes, so it's nice to see some of the others paying well, but to be a good team the stars must shine. If Angel doesn't get going you ca forget about it. Very concerned with his situation.

Williard said in the post game that Delgado is out of shape. Give it a few more weeks and I expect to see the angel of last year on the offensive glass. Not ideal but that is the hand we have been dealt right now.

I think it is a legitimate cause for concern that one of your two best players comes in out of shape after the debacle last year. One would've hoped that he would be motivated to come back in shape and totally focused. I guess we shall see.

KW has been saying for weeks that Angel playing in Pan Am games set him back. Guess he was right.

Odd that playing basketball would cause one to be out of shape. Maybe some eating went along with it. I'm an expert on that way to be out of shape.

I didn't realize Chris Christie was the head coach of the DR Pan Am team.....

Exactly. Makes no sense. Maybe he missed time that would have been spent in the weight room, but I have to think there were some practices and conditioning associated with the Pan Am games.

Definitely not the coaches fault for his not being in shape. Can't expect a coach to watch him get in shape. What?
Oh wait, school just started last week so we've got a few weeks to get him shape, Justin time for summer. What?
