Carino: Neptune's Richardson ready to lead Seton Hall

The point guard's return home is a great opportunity -- for her and the Pirates.

They are the words every college point guard longs to hear, but Shakena Richardson never did -- until she arrived at Seton Hall this fall.

“This is your team,” Pirate women’s basketball coach Tony Bozzella told her. “I have 100 percent confidence in you. I’m not going to pull you after one mistake.”

Best way to describe Shakena Richardson is....

She won't have the highs that Daisha Simmons had last year. But she won't have the lows either.

Daisha was more spectacular but Richardson is more steady.

Let's hope our latest graduate transfer can do this season what our last one did in 2014/15 in leading the Pirates to a regular season Big East Crown.

Agree, but I expect she seems play a bit more like DiDi while Aleesha seems to play a bit more like Daisha, based on observation. She will lead us to contend for the top again.

Both are going to cause havoc in the passing lanes and when their opponent is dribbling too much.... Aleesha and Shakena have lightening quick hands.

Defense should be fun to watch this year. I expect a decent amount of full court pressure.

Just an FYI. I wasn't comparing the two guards by position but by impact.
