Coaches Donating Salaries Back to NIL

Interesting read here. My guess is Sha will need to do something similar for us to field a decent roster next year
And why would anybody stay or become a college coach? If you’re halfway decent you’ll be looking for any kind of NBA/NFL job or retire early as we’ve already seen

The NCAA is cooked

Life as a 3rd assistant coach or scout would likely be a lot less stressful and possibly comparable compensation

Don’t disagree but a guy reaches a high point in his career and then he has to give some back. There will be resistance and there are not that many NBA/NFL jobs. Hopefully a major industry reset is coming.

People like Mike Gundy could retire tomorrow a multi multi multi millionaire unless he was an idiot. The younger coaches will be looking to jump. Then you’ll be getting much lower quality coaches in the NCAA who will be happy with the new lowered salary structures. Just ruins the game even more.

What a circus. But I can see guys who have banked millions upon millions doing something. It’s a personal decision on when you’ve got more money than you or multiple generations could spend and maybe you donate a % to improve your team, I guess idk.

Nothing and I mean nothing surprises me any more about college sports and the amount of money being paid to coaches and players.

This is more nonsense as there is still a finite amount of money each school can spend. Coaches will ask for higher salaries if expected to fund NIL, and I just don’t see it as sustainable.
