Top 75 wing Brandon Weston commits to Seton Hall
In 2014, Seton Hall landed its two highest-rated commits since 2002 in Isaiah Whitehead and Angel Delgado, laying the foundation for future recruiting victories in South Orange.
Another one of those major victories came on Sunday afternoon compliments of SHU lead recruiter Duane Woodward, as consensus Top-75 Hillcrest Prep (Ariz.) and EYBL Mac Irvin Fire wing Brandon Weston committed to the Pirates over Illinois, Michigan, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest and Western Illinois. Weston is the third-highest ranked recruit in Kevin Willard’s tenure as head coach and third highest since the beginning of the modern recruiting era in 2002.

A native of Brooklyn, New York, Weston started his high school career in Wisconsin before transferring to storied public school powerhouse Morgan Park in Illinois. In one season at Morgan Park, Weston dominated the Chicago public school league, averaging 24 points, 10 rebounds and three steals per game. He announced his transfer to Hillcrest Prep for his senior year nearly one month to the day of his commitment to Seton Hall.
Listed at 6-foot-5, Weston profiles perfectly in Willard’s system as a hard-nosed two-way player. He uses his strength to muscle his way into the paint and can match up against guards or taller wings defensively.
"He is an elite defender who can guard multiple positions," Hillcrest Prep co-founder and recruiter Nick Weaver said of Weston. "He has an incredible ability to get to the bucket when he wants to. He is a big, physical guard."
Weston joins Dulaney (Md.) point guard Ryan Conway and Ribet Academy (Calif.) wing Tyler Powell as the third member of Seton Hall’s 2021 recruiting class, which now ranks Top 25 in the country.
The Pirates have two scholarships remaining for the 2020-21 season. Those two open spots are likely to be reserved for a high school big man and a transfer in the spring.
