Contact Tracing

That's a good way to drive a knife further into the chest of the restaurant industry. No thank you.
Why? Is it invasive? It gives points of nexus. Most restaurants already use something like constant contact to keep their patrons databased. And news flaah if you make a res through open table google database info replicates to the restaurant. Shu09 i am concerned that you just want things to be like the wild west.

It's very invasive. Next thing you know, you'll have some stooge from the government knocking at your door saying you must quarantine because someone with the virus could have been in the restaurant as the same time as you.

It's not about the restaurant having your information, it's about that information being used by the government.

So you would rather risk the potential of infection unbeknownst to you vs hands off gov? Isnt contact tracing a good step to gear into reopening?

Without a doubt. The risk is very low to begin with.

There are loads of privacy concerns with contract tracing.
I am for privacy too this is the same government that knows your income and how to tax, knows your ss benefits as well...you see it has well if big brother has this they can seek more...i see it as we all want to get to reopening and flattening and this will be a good tool to aid in that...

I mean if they keep track like they use to at VIP in Elizabeth then my 17 year old self can say he is 21 and Mike Rogers, 551-352-5872 email Mrogers@gmail.com.... lol

Constant contact is a stretch, and open table and apps the like only really work for large city areas like NYC and for specific restaurants and are only used by maybe 5% of the dining public. Who the hell makes a reservation at their local pizza place via a damn app?

Man: Fancy Restaurant, Joe speaking. How may I help you?

Rupert: Good afternoon, Joseph. I would like to make a dinner reservation.

Man: Sure! What is your name?

Rupert: Mr. X

Man: Haha. I like that. Do you want to give a name?

Rupert: No.

Man: Ok, what number can we reach you at?

Rupert: 555-1212

Man: Umm, that’s the fake number they use in the movies. Also, I see your number on the caller ID.

Rupert: I am using a burner phone that will be destroyed at the conclusion of this call. My number is 555-1212

Man: Mmm. OK, I guess. What time would you like your reservation?

Rupert: I am not at liberty to divulge that information.

Man: Excuse me? Then how can I make the reservation?

Rupert: You realize if someone in your restaurant tests positive for COVID, an elite paramilitary government squad called “Contact tracers” will round up all your customers and move them to detention centers. If you want to be a patsy for government overreach, go ahead, but I value my privacy.

Man: Hold on…..I’m sorry, the computer says we just booked the last reservation. Maybe try back another time and be sure to ask for Bob. Bye now!

Rupert: He thought he could trick me into divulging secret information with his nice guy patter. Ha! I sure got him good. I refuse to live in fear. Let me try another restaurant.

So we are ok with the Federal government having that level of access but we don't want them to issue standard voter registration cards to everyone?

That train has already left the station. There would be no real additional infringement on your privacy. The digital signature that we already leave is extensive .

We pretty much already have that information without putting another burden on the restaurants.

For those of you with Google accounts you can turn on Google timelines and see exactly where you've been for the last couple of years day and day out hour by hour. Apple has its thing.

For those without Google the cell phone towers have all that information.

For those that pay with credit cards we also have that information which says what date and time you were at the restaurant.

If they mandated down to each restaurant keeping along than the Smart Ones Will implement technology via an app. How many restaurants already do this and utilize either a scan the door or access to your GPS or Near Field Communication. Facial recognition has gotten to the point that that also would be a reliable way to track everybody's comings and goings.

Using a paper log would be insane albeit it might make the bureaucrats happy.
