This week marks the autumn festival in China they term "Golden Week". Businesses are off and there are a lot of mass gathering celebrations scheduled. Will be interesting to see if a second wave is generated in the coming weeks.

China is sitting back and laughing at our country knowing it made America more submissive and authoritarian as a result of this, wrecking our economy in the process.

Yes, but I believe the primary target was America.
any news on china having a vaccine? did china not shut down at some point?

also isnt their economy based on the rest of the world? if we arent buying their manufacturing then how do they make money? theres in import to their export.

china flipped the script on the whole world. there was a point in history they were completely dependent on north/south american silver for their currency. ruined them. while the americas had silver, china has workforce. numbers. population (and horrible quality of life) so they used our greed for margin against us. they made us dependent on their natural resource, human labor and human buyers (nba/disney). the yin to the capitalist yang. the pendulum has now swung completely the other way and were not in position to make a move because of their virus.

It will be a long road to unwind much of our reliance on China but is the alternative to do nothing? 200,000+ deaths a fractured economy and changing our way of life forever. Seems like it’s worth doing.

oh by all means. were just sorta boned. hence the long road which you speak of. the real question is if we'll actually try or not. we can do it grassroots as consumers but its the large enterprises and govt that have the control moving the needle. what will they do. seems like nba is quiet, disney quiet, msft and walmart purchasing tik tok. etc

If the public can get behind “green” and “sustainability” why not a cause that has done more economically and physically than anything in our history?

Why wouldn’t a company use the strategy of “NOT made in China”. Whether we can make it here in our country or in other developing nations across the world, that should be a priority.

I just had this conversation this morning with a restaurant client. He was telling me how programmed we are. How people fall for wording that means nothing or runaway from specific wording. Whether to call a dish all natural or vegan can make a huge difference. People are programmed to think green and sustainable are good. When it's good for the politicians not to bow to China we will be programmed that NOT made in China is good. Until then, nothing will happen.
