Creighton taking it to Providence!

Earlier I got to see Xavier for the first time and that team is scary athletic and very good! They beat DePaul by 20 but we're leading at one point by 27.

The Big East is scary good.

Some BE teams are "scary" good. 5 PT Jays lead with just under 17 minutes left.

Great crowd at Creighton tonight...on a Tuesday night nonetheless. So based on all those posts after our loss to Creighton, will the brain surgeons on this board claim that Cooley should be fired should Providence lose! Lol.

Creighton usually sells out every home game no matter whom they pay. Arena is within walking distance of the campus. Omaha really supports them.

Creighton is big time out there. Tons of fan support.

Man, PC does a much better job than we do. Whe Creighton would hedge with a second defender or pull a big out to double PC often makes them pay. We struggled with that.

Providence has their first lead with about 4 minutes to play and on a very off shooting night for Dunn.

We struggle with a lot of things. Check out Jerry Carino's last analysis of the Creighton -Seton Hall game. Compared our offense to Rucker league and Creighton to something out of a textbook. What any educated fan can see - just takes the right mix of players and good coaching. McDermott recruits for a system - we over the last few years have landed talented players - sum of the parts greater than the whole. Still waiting to see it all gel.

BTW Gibbs scored 26 to help UConn edge Memphis on Saturday. Finding the stroke again. Would have been nice to keep him - he's the alpha dog now for Kevin Ollie. Would have loved him with Whitehead for another year.

Watson playing out of control the lasts five mins. Prov up 2 with 30secs left

Wow, GREAT ending. Watson ties it on a layup with about 13 seconds left, then Dunn for the game-winner with a shot that clanged around at the buzzer.

Providence wins, 50-48.

Watson can play especially in crunch time. Tied it up with 11 seconds to go.

Dunn hits a J at the buzzer to win. PC wins on an off night. They're lucky Jays 7' Grosselle was a non factor tonight due to fouls and not scoring.

Creighton has been impressive. Some really nice pieces and they are very well coached. They'll be in the hunt, but their non-conference resume is not impressive and they'll need to stack a number of big wins. Missed opportunity tonight.

They're now 12-6, 3-2. The wins have come against St. John's, Georgetown, and Seton Hall. Their best non-conference win? Nebraska or UMass. Not good. And they have a really bad loss to Loyola Chicago.

Their non-conference RPI is #156.

That was like a lower-scoring version of Seton Hall's game at Creighton last year. Play like complete and utter crap, get bailed out by your star guard at the end. Cooley escapes with the win and now he gets to spit fire at his team for the next 3 days, perfect scenario for him.

usually in close games, the team with the best player on the court wins. Case in point tonight.

Looking forward to Providence/Nova matchup. That's a very good game.

Despite being down by as many as 12 points and never leading until only 4 minutes were left in the game, Providence never quit. It reminded me of our effort against Wichita State. I wish we could have adjuusted/continually fought last Saturday against Creighton.

Dunn is great.
Providence is tough.
Watson is good.
Creighton doesn't look so great when the 3s are not going down (like most teams that rely on the 3.)
We're in for a battle on Saturday.

Lavin said it best right after the game: Dunn is cold blooded.

I actually saw Kansas run the weave last night a few times. But all their players are elite athletes and scorers, so it's a little different.

Dan/A10 followers...GW/Dayton Friday night on ESPN2. Two best teams and possibly the only ones who get a bid (maaaaaaybe SJU & URI also?). Should be fun.

URI has no chance for an NCAA at large bid. The Matthews injury really did hurt and Martin has missed a few games which didn't help. St Joe's is playing well, but the loss to VCU did not help them.

Well, if his season plays out how it now looks like we expected it to, then we certainly have to at least try. He's the best option,
Just lost to st bonaventure last night, who I believe has the highest scoring duo in the nation
