They should be 9-1. Had an 8 point lead at home to Providence late and really should have had that one. Fun team to watch. Their NIL?? Recruiting looks solid.
Their Coach is legit. Always got the most out of his Butler teams. Probably better off at a smaller school. Not surprised he got them turned around that quickly.
The next step for DePaul will be how they play on the road. I still need to see that. At home I think they will be a challenge especially if they put some people in their building. They are fun to watch.
Guessing he had assurances upon taking the job that there would be pay-for-play support. Otherwise, it's been a coaching graveyard.
From TV, it looked like they had about 50 people at the Providence game. But I only caught a few minutes.
Holtman didn’t always play that way at Butler.
Seems the strategy year 1 because of the recruiting challenges is to get a bunch of kids who might not be the most athletic or versatile group but can make 3s, and take a million of them.

I'm with you here. Coleman is obvious. Manny looks the part of the best interior presence we have. Middleton you can project even if the performance to date has been subpar. Felton and Godswill -- unless they think they massively missed on the evaluation out of HS.
Dual is the enigma to me right now. Expected way more. He's starting to get the "Long treatment" from some of our board too because they desperately want him to work out. "Long treatment" refers to how that kid was discussed his first year. Posh was playing terrific as a freshman and because of that some of our board members so desperately wanted Long to do anything that would remotely make them feel better about it (why that matters, who knows, but you probably need a bottle of Makers and some therapy sessions to get to the root of it). So every time Long would do anything during a a game, it would pumped up way beyond reality (Long looked "solid" today bringing the ball up past the half life and immediately passing to one of our guards, and played "solid D" because you can most always point to a kid playing "solid D" unless he is blatantly and repeatedly getting torched in the half court).
I see that starting to bleed into the Dual comments game in, game out. I expected way more at this point.

They actually had more people on Saturday beating WS. Like I said let's see how they play on the road. That's a huge hurdle for that program. At home they should be in most games. Right now, I would say about 6 wins in Conference for them, give or take. That's a nice step. We have a bigger following at this point, but at this juncture they may be ahead of us. That could all certainly change.
For me, I want a true PG, a Wing that can shoot from the perimeter and a 5 that can be a factor on defense and contribute something on offense. I always have said you need 2 or 3 really good players and someone on the roster that is either borderline NBA or could play on that level. My opinion is that only Middleton can fit one of those roles and he needs to improve his skillset to do so. A couple of the other guys could blossom, but you can't project that just yet.
DePaul isn’t good either, but they are better than us. Which is obviously a major improvement for them.
Understand what you’re saying about the Long treatment but Dual has way more talent and potential. I was hoping for more but based on his play at PC, I saw him as developmental but from a higher base. But IMO he is clearly improving. Nine assist vs OSU and five more yeastetday. He has a high dribble but right now he’s the only guy who get into the lane and has an idea of what to do. His defense is solid even though he did get spun around on Harper’s inside out dribble. Still it took a 28 foot bomb to beat us.
Yes. See my post above. We have to develop some continuity. But that group still needs to be augmented with another shooter and an offensively skilled big.
