This year's team is not as offensively talented as last year's team but the difference is D and toughness. No need to single out players but suffice it to say that we lost some awful defensive players.

Also, last year's team was not tough which was a reflection on the players and coach. This year we are far more scrappy which again is a reflection on the players and coach. I won't declare that we are over the hump but we will not have to live and die with the 3.

This team is checking all the boxes that needed to be checked in the preseason. And best of all they are extremely young.

I look forward to a very good season sans injuries. There will be the inevitable bumps in the road and unfortunately when that happens the past ills of Seton Hall will be brought up here.

But remember, this is a different team and should not be measured or compared to their predecessors.

Willard said months ago this was his best team since arriving at the Hall. Many laughed. But my guess is no one is laughing anymore.

Still think we'll go around 9-9, maybe 10-8. But in this league that's an excellent accomplishment. Especially when the future is so bright.

Having that other big up front in Ish with Nzei as a solid back-up has addressed one of our biggest weaknesses going into this season and we are making progress as a team and as a program.

We finally have a growing body of evidence that this is true and even the strongest detractors are seeing it. Winning the way we are winning strongly points to the reality of your observation. Coach has the horses, but the biggest thing in my mind is that he seems to have matured.

We laughed. You had to question it too. He has made that pronouncement just about every year. Actual change was required, not pronouncements.

This may be his best team but not his most talented. Hope it continues

This new BE is developing into a league with growing parity among all ten teams and going 9-9 or 10-8 would be a big step forward for this program . While we're still a very young team KW has to keep adding talent to this roster to keep up with the talent being added by his peers. Powell is a great addition for next year and Thomas comes in after sitting a year and immediately brings experience and familiarity with Willard's style of play and both add depth to a position where depth is needed.

This team as it showed itself last night is way better than last years. Defense is ten times better, rebounding far better and the offense cre add test better shots. Last year shot threes better. Imo, the new lineup is almost as portal as the year of growth for the sophs.

Which team was more talented? Ish is way better than his predecessor. IW,KC, and DR are much better than JS,SG and IW. If this team can stay together for 4 years, especially with Powell coming in next years, we can be a sweet 16 team. The Pope/hazell teams were not as talented.

I would take this years team offensively over last years in a second. We might not shoot the 3 as well, but we get to the basket much better, find the open player, move without the ball, have a pg who creates open looks. Best thing to happen was Gibbs leaving.

The beautiful thing about this year's offense is our lack of dependence on the 3 ball, particularly when we are hitting our FT's. This year, all we need is 1-2 three's by Singh per game, and that will keep defenses honest enough.

The defense and toughness of this team is night and day from last year. We were soft last year. And that was mostly because of Brandon Mobley's inability to help Delgado on the boards and play really good one on one defense. Ishmael Sanogo has so much better for this team. And when he leaves the court Nzei is not that much worst than him. Now Delgado has some support on the glass.

I still think we need a lot more size to compete with the national teams. But man if this team stays together for next year we are talking top 10 team potential here.

We now take 3s when we they are in the flow of the offense and the player is in position.

It is refreshing.

great post. Slightly disagree with last years team being better offensively. Last year we lived and died by the three. This year much more well rounded.

I like this very much.

Bang the boards, get the put backs, get physical, cover the opponent like paint, take charges - it's basketball - and man do we ever love it.

Just curious, what team of Willard's do you think had more overall talent? Our current sophomores are all extremely talented. What team do you think would beat this one?
