If we go man who do you think guards Jones and Dunham?

I would put Ish on Jones and a combo of Whitehead and Gordon on Dunham. If Dunham gets hot I wouldn't be opposed to putting the bigger Ish on him.

Jones is one of the most difficult individual match-ups in the conference given his size and ability. I think you're going to have to try to feel it out. Carrington has foot speed to be pesky with him, but maybe not the size and physicality. Gordon and Whitehead could be better overall options.

He just plows down the lane and throws up that herky-jerky runner.

Dunham has such a quick release that Carrington may be better suited there.

Their team is a lot different without Kameron Woods hammering the boards. He was a monster, especially on the defensive glass.

I saw their GU game, and this kid Martin, an athletic 6'8 kid, put up around 35. You may have to have Ish on him I think. Angel on the big white kid? He plays a lot outside this year. I think Desi may have to play RB, with Derrick playing him too at times. Butler is GOOD. I don't care about their league record. They are a very good team and one that is well put together. Nice inside, nice outside and Roosevelt doing his thing. Do you play Isaiah on Dunham, or Khadeen? I hope we can take it inside and if we keep playing D like we have been, good things can happen.

At the start:

Ish on Jones, Carrington/Gordon on Dunham and Desi on Martin.

Butler is KenPom #40. We have beaten #257 (St. John's), #45 (Creighton), #109 (Marquette), and #58 (Georgetown) during this 4-game winning streak.

Butler is 13th in adjusted offensive efficiency. but just 139th in defensive.

They work the ball inside and are not a big 3PT shooting team, but do have some 3PT shooters. Dunham is an assassin and this kid Martin is a pick-and-pop type of stretch-4. The are sharp and tough. They do not kill themselves (11th in turnover percentage). They also attack the offensive glass as well as we do.

They're a smaller team than we are, but much more experienced and they're damn strong in terms of like brute force. They do all the little things. Grind fest. I think we should beat them at home, but won't be easy.

Jones drove through us like a mack truck last year and Woods (graduated) kilied us on the glass. We needed Gibbs to go off to be in it: http://espn.go.com/ncb/boxscore?gameId=400588413

This is a tough matchup. Butler is an excellent program and we need
to at least split with them. Last year SHU had very strong first half against Butler and it slipped away at Prudential. We'll have a better
opportunity to beat them at home than on the road.

Ish and Gordon make us a good defensive team and that could be a
difference this time around. Plus SHU is a leading rebounding team.

We have not fared well against Butler since their entry into the conference. It would be nice for some payback. This would be another feather in our cap (top 50-ish win, of which we don't have many). Every game is huge when you live on the bubble.

Carrington/Gordon on Lewis
Whitehead on Dunham
Gordon/Sanogo on Jones
Rodriguez on Chrabascz
Delgado on Wideman
Sanogo/Rodriguez on Martin

Butler isn't a deep team but they can throw a bunch of unique combinations out there because of the abilities of Jones and Martin. Chrabascz can also stretch the defense even though he's had a rough time shooting from three point range.

Sanogo has to be on Martin IMO. That kid is a killer. I'd also put Gordon on Jones in the hope he can draw a few charges.

Martin's last 3 games: 27/50, 8/16 from 3, 18/20 from the FT line, 18 rebounds.

Defense is our strength but we have to be on all cylinders on offense..and with out saying:
1. hit our foul shots
2. stay out of foul trouble
3. limit turn overs
besides that it easy..lol

Veer might be able to get a few open looks in the corner. If he hits the first I think this could be a good game for him, I have a guy feeling he has a good game tonight.

I only watch the hall, so can someone explain why everyone agrees that butler is good but they have a poor record? What has led to their misleading W-L?

Butler's OCC record is very good and includes a win at Purdue on the road when Purdue was top 10. They have had a rough start in conference play but some of that is because their point guard was out with injury. They're at full strength now.

I feel like we need someone to harass Martin, stay glued in dunham, and is strong enough to guard Jones.

That calls for Ish on Martin, KC or Gordon on Dunham, and IW or Gordon on Jones. That would leave Desi on AC (I don't particularly love that matchup but he guarded big men last year.)

Not exactly sure who Veer is going to be able to guard tonight.

Our last 4 games the other team has averaged 62 points. I think this game is played in the 70s.
